About Worksmith

Worksmith is a fast-growing software start-up based in the heart of Austin, Texas. We make it easy for our commercial clients to find, manage, and pay local service providers. Our software-enabled marketplace seamlessly connects retailers, restaurants, salons, spas, clinics, etc. with local contractors, such as cleaners, handymen, painters, plumbers, etc. across the US and Canada.

Worksmith’s software saves time, money and headaches: for clients, Worksmith provides the peace of mind of knowing any emergency or recurring maintenance need is being handled efficiently and effectively by the Worksmith network.

For service providers, Worksmith is an easy-to-use, pay-for-performance marketing vehicle that provides job opportunities without the hassle of sales and marketing, billing or collections. Our platform provides the means for local service providers to dramatically grow their business.

Why Worksmith

We work hard and play hard.

The market opportunity for facility management is $50B and we’re disrupting it. From years of experience working with technology startups and enterprise operations managers, we knew there was a better way to find, hire, and manage service providers with smart technology, and we set out to build it.

Starting from the ground-up, we’ve come a long way: we have signed marquee customers including J.Crew, Bonobos, Rent The Runway, Tory Burch, Rag & Bone, Nespresso and Christian Louboutin. We’ve grown to service over 1,000 brick and mortar locations across the US and Canada. And our network of local service providers is +4,000 strong and growing.

We’ve accomplished all of this and had fun doing it - we promote the phenomenal Austin lifestyle and enjoy team lunches with Franklin BBQ, foodie tours of East Austin, and ACL Festival.

We’re team players.

Worksmith is a team environment - We cannot build this company without each and every team member, and we’re looking for people who jump at the chance to get in the game.

We rise to the occasion.

We’ve come a long way, and we have a lot to do. We’re looking for those ready to lead by example: early risers willing to come in early when needed, night owls willing to staying late to excel through the sprint, and masters of efficiency who find ways to do more, better, faster, and more creatively.

This isn’t a job - it’s an opportunity to build something great.

If you’re ready and willing to roll up your sleeves, now is the time. We’ve called the plays, set our sights on company-wide goals, and are determined to achieve them. This is an exciting opportunity to grow the company and your career along with it.

Overview of Product Manager

From our mobile app used by client and vendors to our internal portal used by the Worksmith team, our business runs on software.  Our team is responsible for ensuring that we are building the right features in a timely fashion.

Being a Product Manager at Worksmith means getting your hands dirty to truly understand the business.  For example, you might:

  • Shadow the sales team to understand the client onboarding process and devise a solution to increase the signup conversion rate.

  • Dive into the data with our operations team to identify spending trends and build predictive reporting models.

  • Review client and service provider feedback with the customer success team to identify common pain points in the software and produce more efficient, easier to use systems.

You'll own the entire lifecycle of a product: requirements identification, solution design, implementation, launch, feedback, and improvement.  Product Managers here are expected to be self sufficient and are given the latitude to make autonomous decisions throughout the process.

The right candidate:

  • Can work with our business owners to gather requirements and produce a well thought out project plan

  • Can produce documentation for solutions that communicate the requirements clearly and accurately to the teams required for execution

  • Manage and drive to completion projects by creating schedules, project deliverables, and milestones

  • Can take feedback as well as you can give it

  • Displays a self-motivated drive to continuously improve

  • Is motivated to not only achieve but exceed expectations

We also look for these qualities:

  • A willingness to learn

  • A positive and hard-working attitude

  • Patience and tenacity

  • Organized and detail-oriented

Requirements:

  • Based in Austin, Texas

  • A four-year college degree

  • 3+ years experience as a product manager

  • Comfort with iterative design process: soliciting and vetting feedback, testing hypotheses, shipping quickly

What we offer:

  • A work-hard, play-hard culture with an entrepreneurial approach

  • Opportunities that accompany a high-growth organization

  • Competitive compensation including stock options

  • Health and dental benefits

  • Flexible vacation policy

  • Casual, fun work environment: we enjoy team lunches, happy hours, and electric bike tours

An Insider's view of Worksmith

What’s the vibe like in the office?

We have a very collaborative vibe in our office. Our space is open and our desks are all pretty close so we can talk to each other rather than live through Slack (although we do love Slack). Luckily we all get along really well so it's not a burden to be so close together. Overall its a pretty hard working chill vibe in our office and I love it!

Jessica

Marketplace Operations Specialist

What projects are you most excited about?

The Tech and Product Team just kicked off an initiative to release one innovation project each quarter, what we're referring to as a "mooshot." This is a chance for us to take a quick detour from the roadmap, exploring some wild ideas or experimenting with cutting edge technology. It's been a refreshing mental shift and ton of fun to feed off of ea

Kaitlyn

Product Design Lead

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

We're currently focused on building a scalable marketplace that connects clients to local vendors. It's a unique challenge that requires the right combination of technology and the human touch, and is extremely rewarding as we make progress!
