Director, Special Projects
Rex is creating new tech leadership to serve people. Big tech leadership has lost its social license to lead. They’re focused on extracting value, rather than creating it; muzzling dissent rather than freeing our voices; oppressing rebels rather than being the rebel. We are changing this. At Rex, technology will once again serve people. Review our culture page (https://www.rex.com/careers#company-culture) to understand what we are building.
At the intersection of real estate and technology, Rex is a startup incubator continuing to launch companies within our ecosystem which are focused on PropertyTech, FinTech, and InsuranceTech. Our initiatives page (https://www.rex.com/initiatives) provides more details on current companies.
We are hiring a Director to join the Special Projects team to identify, capture or resolve the highest value opportunities and problems facing Rex. Gravitas and the ability to command the respect of a cross-functional team is needed. You will work alongside senior leadership within Rex which provides access across all teams. Project team members need high aptitude for strategically identifying problems and opportunities; you are not afraid to roll up your sleeves to tackle the issues at hand. With raw talent, street smarts, systematic thinking, and the hustle of a true builder - you will find a way or make one.
What you'll do:
- Identify strategic direction and business plans for an internal venture studio
- Perform benchmark exercises to determine best practices within Rex capabilities, then drive a cross-functional team to restructure and close gaps
- Analyze investment strategies + opportunities and execute on those opportunities when necessary
- Product “deep dives” across our tech company(s), identifying ways to improve the customer experience and leading initiatives to follow through on recommendations
Who you are:
- An undergraduate degree with 5-7 years of experience
- A strong track record of systematic thinking
- Exceptional character, talent, drive, and teaming ability
- An entrepreneurial nature with a fearless ‘think outside the box’ mentality
- Extreme bias to execute
- Willingness to work across a multitude of teams, capabilities, and projects
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
