​We're seeking a dynamic and strategic servant leader to act as the general manager for one of Whole Foods Market’s marquee e-commerce channels. The Senior Principal (Director), E-Commerce Delivery & Pickup is responsible for Whole Foods Market’s Delivery and Pickup business strategy, business operations and P&L, as well as Amazon parcel pickup/returns strategy at Whole Foods Market stores. This role works cross-functionally with partners in Finance, Merchandising, Retail Operations, Store Development, Product Management, Tech, and Marketing to deliver a best-in-class experience to our customers and to drive business results. This role reports to the Vice President of E-Commerce and leads a team of 6 Team Members (3 directs).
This position is Austin-based (required) so we are seeking candidates that are either already located in Austin or that are willing to relocate to Austin. Our hybrid model includes a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the P&L for Whole Foods Market’s Delivery and Pickup business.

  • Delivers on financial goals including topline growth, operating profit, and G&A expense.

  • Oversees and runs key parts of the business operational cadence, including weekly business reviews, monthly/quarterly business reviews, and program reviews.

  • Leads the development of annual operating plans for the Delivery and Pickup business, including financial targets, customer input goals, and investments.

  • Identifies and prioritizes new initiatives and drives alignment across finance, merchandising, technology, operations, marketing, and business teams to achieve our goals. Ensures we have strong business case documentation, including partnering with finance to develop pro-formas and ROI analyses, and drives to insights-driven recommendations.

  • Advises marketing, operations, merchandising, and other stakeholders on E-Commerce trends, strategy, technology, methods, and techniques.

  • Leads and facilitates complex discussions, debates and decision-making with Whole Foods Market and Amazon executive leadership.

  • Drives functional efforts to enhance WFM capabilities and adapt / apply leading edge methods, partnerships, and technologies.

  • Monitors overall progress and status, identifying areas of success, challenges, and issues. Identifies new business and program opportunities to deliver on total business and E-Commerce channel priorities; drives definition, approval and prioritization of these initiatives.

  • Develops key performance metrics, goals and reporting expectations for the Delivery and Pickup business to measure team success and identify opportunities; regularly crafts reports and updates to be distributed to executive leadership.

  • Leads a high-functioning team, including TM on-boarding, training and development and performance within cross functional e-commerce programs.

  • Advanced analytical skills.

  • Advanced business writing and communication skills.

  • Experience managing a P&L.

  • Regularly interacts with colleagues or partners up to the executive leadership level. Strong executive presence and proven ability to interact with executive leadership.

  • Consults with and advises senior-level stakeholders and leaders.

  • Expert understanding of standard project and/or product management methodologies and requirements.

  • Expert ability to plan, estimate, organize, and monitor projects.

  • Advanced ability to oversee and advise on project management issues and assist with overcoming barriers. Expert ability to keep multiple projects on track financially, strategically, and in accordance with stakeholder deadlines.

  • Leverages customer, market, and industry understanding to drive program-related decisions and recommendations.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 8-10 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Graduate degree preferred
