You will own the Software Release Management lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases across the enterprise for multiple applications across various portfolios. The Software Release Manager releases can be inclusive of application updates, security improvements, projects and programs. Where necessary you’ll provide tools and services to help product management and production support teams manage and deploy releases into production.
The Software Release Manager will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for code through development, test, and production environments. The role function works collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and is supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build dev/test environments.
This position also works with IT management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments.
The Software Release Manager responsibilities also include building the Release Calendar and working closely with scrum masters, project managers and team leaders to coordinate a centralized view of all releases and associated dependencies. You will assist in managing projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence and that the integrity of the release can be measured.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate, plan and manage current and future release windows and cycles across multiple portfolios
- Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
- Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
- Communicate all key project commitments and changes
- Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations
- Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
- Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans
- Lead recurring release reporting/status meetings to include discussions around release scope, risks and roadblocks
- Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required
- Work with release engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges
- Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key customers, partners and vendors
- Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
- Identify, communicate and mitigate release delivery risks
- Collaborates with release engineer(s) to maintain a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
- Embraces continuous delivery as a goal and helps to streamline the release process
- Actively participates in scrum meetings, iteration planning, and feature demos
- Prioritizes workload to ensure that work is completed accurately and efficiently within established time frame
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of previous release and/or project management experience, (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred)
- 8+ years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development
- Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
- Demonstrated effective leadership, analytical skills and advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience with Atlassian Jira, Confluence or Service Desk
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion and facilitate meetings.
- Experience leading or working with Scrum teams
- Ad tech or mobile industry experience
- Self-motivated, driven, resourceful and enjoy working in fast-paced, collaborative, Agile environment
- Ability to adapt and learn quickly is a fundamental necessity
