As a Staff Engineer on the Lotus Squad, you will lead the charge delivering business critical tools. Your team will empower our partners in Operations, Sales and Marketing to drive greater operational efficiency. As a team, we will envision and develop effective new tools. You will also drive enhancement of current critical tools. You will drive, evangelize and implement architectural strategies and tactics to improve efficiency of teams and projects. This role brings technical leadership and rapid delivery combining software and systems engineering to build and maintain a diverse set of large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. Your responsibilities will include providing technical guidance and mentorship to a team of empowered engineers striving to improve operational and technical efficiency. You will maintain a strong focus on internal critical applications and tools, driving efficiency and timely delivery, which are the cornerstones of this team. We highly value lightweight processes to limit and reduce time spent on operational and maintenance work. We factor all of this into iterative evaluation and improvement to drive product quality with interesting and dynamic daily challenges.

Who You Are

• You are an experienced Software Engineer who has worked extensively in a full stack development capacity and enjoys a UI challenge as much as a backend challenge
• You have extensive experience driving operational efficiency through development of smart, effective internally focused applications and tools
• You lead by example and make yourself a force multiplier, putting the team first to drive technical delivery
• You grow the technical skills of less senior engineers as you are about technical problem-solving and critical thinking
• You have strong interest in design and problem solving for large-scale distributed systems as well as tightly focused micro-services
• You take a systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive
• You have 8+ yrs application development experience, preferably Java, and 4+ yrs experience with AWS
• You have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or STEM field, or equivalent self-study of computer science
• Your experience with PHP is a major plus
