Currently, we are seeking an exceptional Tax Manager who is looking for the next chapter in their career.

Our team is in need of another rock star that has the accounting knowledge, administrative skills, and project management capabilities to be a proven value-add to our customer-focused practice. The Tax Manager will work alongside members of the Tax and Accounting teams managing the consulting, compliance, and tax projects at ScaleFactor. The individual will be the main ScaleFactor contact for many tax matters and will be responsible for several ongoing projects at one time. Additionally, the position allows for the opportunity to directly impact other areas of ScaleFactor, both now and in the future. This includes operational accounting projects, general consulting, as well as other advisory projects (e.g. M&A transactions).

The ideal candidate is comfortable having responsibilities which will include:

  • Customer-centric interaction and problem solving, serving as the final decision maker on tax-related matters
  • Performing as a team lead with tax consulting projects, research projects, and other tax compliance issues
  • Providing key analyses in transactional planning and advanced accounting topics from a tax perspective
  • Assessing customer’s current practices and offering insight into changes to meet compliance requirements and/or reduce tax obligations
  • Review of tax compliance items and signing of certain customer tax returns
  • Managing tax compliance schedule along with other tax projects to ensure customer’s expectations are met and deliverables are completed on time
  • Scoping new engagements using current and past information provided by the customer
  • Reporting on team performance including financial and non-financial metrics (e.g., budget vs. actual report).

DEMONSTRATED SKILLS

  • Problem-solving and proactive decision-making
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills with the ability to successfully handle multiple customers’ and internal organization's needs concurrently
  • Advanced understanding of the Tax Code and tax concepts for Partnerships, Corporations, and Individuals, along with the ability to communicate these with customers and other members of the team
  • Adaptability and resourcefulness to drive results, and an approach that focuses on always improving the current process
  • Highly self-motivated and versatile
  • Understanding of financial accounting Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ability to analyze a company’s books and records, as well as financial reporting
  • Technology savvy, can-do attitude and approach

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Public Accountant with ability to practice in Texas
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Masters in Accounting – Tax Focus preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with customer-facing work experience; Public Accounting preferred
  • 5-7 years of public accounting and/or industry experience, including multiple years experience in oversight or team management role
  • Experience with a wide variety of tax return filings including Corporations, Partnerships, S-corporations, and Individuals; Non-profit and International compliance experience is a plus!
  • Demonstrated ability to lead tax consulting in the SMB space
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, mind & drive
  • Technological Optimist
