The Job At-A-Glance:
Q2 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Director to join our team. The Technical Director will play a crucial role in leading and managing a small team of technical developers while also actively contributing as an individual contributor. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to balance managerial responsibilities with hands-on technical work.
A Typical Day:
- Lead and manage a team of 2 to 8 technical developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high-quality work and professional growth.
- Act as a player/coach, actively participating in technical projects, driving innovation, and providing technical expertise.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting knowledge sharing, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements, prioritize projects, and ensure successful delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Provide technical leadership by staying up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and actively sharing this knowledge with the team.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate tools, technologies, and frameworks to improve team productivity and technical outcomes.
- Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and promote adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and obstacles, proactively finding solutions and ensuring project timelines and deliverables are met.
- Act as a liaison between the technical team and senior management, effectively communicating project updates, risks, and accomplishments.
- Collaborate with HR in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new team members, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and resources to meet project demands.
Bring Your Passion, Do What You Love. Here's What We're Looking For:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a minimum of 15 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 12+ years of experience; or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Strong technical background with expertise in multiple programming languages, frameworks, and technologies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on driving results and meeting project objectives.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.
