With brands like TOMS and Warby Parker exploding in the retail scene, social good has become an attractive incentive for companies wanting to do it all. Social entrepreneurs are trying to solve global problems while sustaining a thriving business, and a general movement toward ethical corporate and consumer behavior is booming.

An Austin-based entrepreneur named Bassanio Peters wants to be a part of that movement; he's launched an Indiegogo campaign to support the launch of a platform called Assist 2 Develop (A2D), which aims to pull freelancers and clients together to make something good happen in the world. The project focuses primarily on engineers, manufacturers and marketers.

"Our goal is to help startups, small businesses, or anyone with an idea for a product build a virtual team utilizing the top freelance talent," said Peters, the founder and CEO of Assisted Development LLC, the company working to launch Assist 2 Develop. "This team can then collaborate in real time to create innovative products that address the problem they are looking to solve. Long-term we want A2D to become the go to place for people looking to create innovative products that deliver social good."

"Imagine engineering and marketing freelancers working with philanthropists and entrepreneurs on a single web-based platform to achieve a common goal," Peters posed in a vision document he shared with Built In Austin. "What kind of solutions can be discovered when we combine an indigenous individual's perspective regarding challenges they face with the resources and know-how to solve them?"

The idea, Peters says, is to create a digital workspace in which problem-identifiers and problem-solvers can find one another, connect in real time and collaborate on projects that produce physical products delivering a social good component. In particular, he plans to offer a host of services through the platform: design, engineering, CAD automation, linear and nonlinear design validation, computational fluid dynamics, kinematics study and physical prototyping.

The brand currently consists of Peters, a programmer and several engineering consultants. Peters, who held a senior consulting position with Saratech Inc and account management positions with GoEngineer and Ricoh prior to launching Assisted Development, is actively seeking angel investments to help build out the team. His crowdfunding campaign closes on December 31.
