Are you passionate about quality exam development? Are you brimming with great ideas to grow and improve an exam program? SailPoint Technologies is looking for an innovative, motivated certification exam developer to join our Community and Education Services team. If you are experienced with the formal exam development process from performing job-task-analysis with subject matter experts to conducting psychometric item evaluation, we want to talk with you. In this role, you will guide subject matter experts to create and maintain high stakes exams, and work with our team of education professionals to create and maintain low-stakes exams. You will learn the identity security talent market to help grow our program and design and create materials to help our exam candidates succeed. You'll use your technical skills to learn SailPoint products to guide the subject matter experts and be the recognized expert on our testing platforms. Responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-stakes, proctored certification exams and low-stakes, un-proctored accreditation assessments for various roles, products, and courses.
  • Run job task analysis workshops, curate exam blueprints, conduct item writing workshops, and other certification development tasks according to testing industry and SailPoint best practices.
  • Recruit, train, and retain a subject matter expert pool for developing test items.
  • Ensure the quality and performance of the exams through psychometric analysis.
  • Monitor assessment and exam performance on an on-going basis to ensure they meet the target role competencies and program requirements.
  • Monitor the transformation of SailPoint roles and products to keep our certifications aligned and up to date.
  • Assist in creating certification enablement materials including exam guides, study courses, certification prep webinars and other collateral.
  • Develop proficiency in the identity security talent market and partner with the Certification Program Manager to continuously grow and improve our exams.
  • Provide guidance on exam design, development, and delivery to the Community and Education Services team.
  • Become our technology expert for our item development and delivery platforms for exam operations and delivery, including discrete option multiple choice items.
  • Partner with our exam delivery vendor to configure and maintain complex, coded items.
  • Provide answers and support to the support team and/or respond to escalated support issues related to our exams in a timely manner.


Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree; degree in adult education, testing, or psychometrics preferred, not required
  • 3 to 5 years of experience developing and maintaining high-stakes certifications.
  • Deep expertise in developing legally defensible exams.


  • Familiar with psychometric principles and know how to use data to analyze item exposure and overall exam health.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and group facilitation.
  • Comfortable using different forms of testing & item bank software.
  • Able to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience within the software/SaaS industry is a plus.
