Position Overview

uShip is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a full time Director of Inside Sales. The director of inside sales is responsible for a team of managers and individual contributors which acquire SMB customers through a variety of sales strategies.  Importantly, the role is focused on strategic leadership of inside sales for uShip’s industry leading freight product offering.  Strategic leadership requires a deep understanding of uShip’s competitive landscape, sales tactics, team development and motivation, and customer needs.

 

Responsibilities of the Director of Inside Sales

  • Establishes revenue objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales plans; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products; and re-forecasting revenue performance periodically

  • Collaborate with marketing to create and execute on novel customer acquisition strategies and tactics

  • Collaborate with product to prioritize and implement features/functions which enhance the online/mobile experience of uShip’s freight platform

  • Establishes and adjusts selling prices by monitoring supply, demand, and price sensitivity

  • Maintains sales staff by collaborating with HR on  talent identification, interviews, and training

  • Follow through on plans/objectives, hold team accountable, assist team in achieving success on their goals/objectives

  • Maintains sales staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

 

Responsibilities of the team reporting to the Director of Inside Sales

  • Handles inbound/outbound calls from potential business partners that express interest in our product

  • Conducts intro and initial value proposition calls via the phone/internet

  • Effectively able to generate leads, qualify leads, and assess their value

  • Drive Qualified Opportunities through the Sales Process

  • Effectively articulate the uShip value proposition

  • Break down barriers to entry and engage with key decision makers        

  • Track all activity, contacts, accounts and opportunities in Sugar CRM

  • Effectively manage pipeline and meet aggressive goals

    

Experience and Education for Director of Inside Sales

  • Experience recruiting, developing, and maintaining inside sales talent

  • Experience collaborating with Product and Marketing teams

  • Experience creating annual revenue plans for inside sales and re-forecasting revenue targets periodically based on new information

  • At least 5 years experience in phone sales & lead generation

  • Experience selling SaaS-based technology solutions

  • Experience being a player/coach to new team members

  • Experience with CRM solutions and driving  lead lifecycle across the sales team

  • Ability to work independently and in a team, be self-motivated and driven

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Strong Oral & Written Communication skills

  • Background in logistics or transportation preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
