About You

You are a very experienced sales leader who is deeply familiar with the newspaper industry and is a leading expert in the historical and trending characteristics of the local media landscape. You are an intense but consultative seller with strong analytical and communication skills. You are a seasoned and talented sales trainer who understands various training philosophies and can command a room of two or 200. You also have deep experience selling digital media and possess a keen ability to navigate your way through complex organizations. Your main goal is to make genuine connections with senior and C-level decision makers and drive revenue.

Here are some things you’ll do every day:
  • Interact with C-level media executives to explain the changing digital landscape, sign new partners, and upsell existing partners into new products
  • Travel to conferences, perform site visits, and in-person training when necessary
  • Serve as an expert consultant on transitioning old media companies into new digital revenue models
  • Work directly with technology leaders inside Fortune 1000 companies to plan and implement new technology rollouts
  • Perform site visits and training when and where it makes sense
  • Communicate partner concerns to the account support and product teams
  • Help develop the sales team to be more effective and efficient at converting leads into partners
  • Provide consistent and developmental coaching, training and support to the sales team
  • Provide domain knowledge and valuable insights into the mind of newspaper employees at all levels of the organization
  • Perform demos, help close major accounts, and help close partners hand-in-hand with the sales team
  • Take responsibility for performance of the entire newspaper sales cycle from demo to close
You should probably apply if you meet these minimum requirements:
  • 10+ years of sales experience
  • 5+ years of sales management experience in the newspaper industry
  • You must have been hired into a sales management position at least once
  • You have a verifiable track record of successful sales leadership
  • You have deep newspaper industry knowledge
  • You are an entrepreneurial, hands-on leader with an ownership mentality

This position offers a salary of $100,000-$150,000 per year, depending on experience, significant bonus opportunity, and includes company stock options. We do not accept any emails or phone calls about this position.
