Purple recognise that inside sales reps are the drivers of growth and represent the future star contributors within the business. I could continue, but I’ll allow Josh, our latest graduate of the programme after just 6 months in the role, tell you more about it;

What do you actually do Josh?

I’m the first point of contact in the sales team for inbound leads. I get to speak with board members of large enterprises from all industries and locations to initiate the sales process. I work closely with our global sales team and play an important part in developing their pipeline.

What have you learned?

I’ve learned a lot about how different business work and the challenges they face, and speaking to people in Australia, USA and the UK has taught me a lot about international business. Because I work so closely with our sales team I have been able to quickly understand the sales process and improve my skills enormously.

Will these skills be useful in the role you’re being promoted to?

Thanks to my colleagues and manager I feel 100% confident that I can step up. This role has let me learn the product inside out without the pressure of a sales quota. The lead generation and qualification experience will help me to prioritise my workload around prospects most likely to land and most valuable. I also understand better how Purple’s channel network operates.

We’re about to launch what we’re calling our Purple Sales Academy. So, alongside learning on the job we’ll be putting on peer lead training sessions to really gear up your sales skills which will open up for you the opportunity to quickly progress in to a more lucrative sales position, like Josh.

Experience isn’t essential at all. What we’re looking for is positivity, passion for sales and technology, ambition and drive; all buzzwords I know, but if you can demonstrate them, you’re in.
