The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen at HomeAway for a SEM Manager with a focus on Trading & Customer Segmentation development for destination specific campaigns. This is a regional leadership role, reporting to the Global Head of Trading & Customer Segmentation. The SEM Trading Manager will be required to work with a high degree of autonomy. This highly visible role requires regular coordination with Growth Marketing leadership as well as cross functional leaders and executive leadership throughout the company. This is a hands on management role which will include career development and management of a team of local marketing analysts in addition to day to day management of the programs.

Based in our Austin office, you will help with building the team and working directly with business leaders while leading the destination focused SEM program across the Americas. Collaboration with different departments will allow you to enjoy a full view on all aspects of the business. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assume complete accountability for Americas SEM performance
  • Communicate with executive leadership about trends, new programs and changes in the marketplace
  • Effectively manage budgets across brands/regions to maximize return-on-investment
  • Manage Growth Marketing analysts in coordination with other channel leaders and contribute to their development and career progress 
  • Develop, manage and optimize destination focused SEM campaigns across multiple regions 
  • Implement an effective and scalable Customer Segmentation strategy, leveraging CRM and remarketing capabilities
  • Partner with Analytics and Finance teams on forecasting, target setting and accurate measurement of SEM campaigns
  • Drive Owner Acquisition SEM initiatives with a view to reaching and exceeding our supply acquisition targets both at regional and destination levels

To be successful you will bring the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in performance/growth marketing with at least 3 actively managing multi-million dollar SEM programs through AdWords/Bing ad platforms or third party tools. Familiarity with the Google/DoubleClick stack preferred.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable and sustainable performance improvements within an e-commerce environment
  • A high degree of analytical aptitude: ability to analyze large sets of data and objectively derive actionable insights from disparate data sources
  • Deep knowledge of SEM best practices and a keen eye for innovation and testing new products and functionality
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate performance metrics, challenges and opportunities to executive stakeholders
  • A collaborative approach and ability to interact with cross-functional teams including engineering, marketing and product
  • Proven success at developing a team of marketing professionals
  • BA or BSc degree level qualifications, ideally with a Marketing or Business Management major
