The Opportunity:At HomeAway, we’re passionate about providing our customers with great software to manage or book their vacation rental. Our quality-engineering group focuses on making our software even better by collaborating with product teams to improve quality. This activity can take the form of developer pairing to increase testability, leading or performing exploratory testing sessions, improving automation test coverage, and/or suggesting and implementing process improvements.
As a Quality Engineer you'll play a critical role in everything we do to improve quality, increase development velocity, and ship better products. You'll be working directly with developers, and collaborating with product managers and support engineers. You'll be contributing to the quality effort on your project by assessing and mitigating risks, solving quality challenges, performing exploratory and automated testing, training and coaching developers/testers and improving processes, as a part of a team of highly talented and supportive quality engineers.
You will work closely with product and development teams throughout HomeAway to leverage our existing high availability, distributed Java based architecture to build the suite of new products that will empower HomeAway's customer base to reserve and pay for rental properties and add-on products around the globe. This technology is the heart of HomeAway's offering to property owners and property managers (suppliers).
This particular role will be working on our reservations and rates systems for allowing suppliers to quote and accept bookings on their properties. You will be part of a team adding mission critical features to our cutting edge supplier functionality.

Responsibilities:- Proactively drive quality through collaboration, process improvements and tool creation
- Become “the” expert for your product suite and how it integrates with other HomeAway products
- Take ownership of projects and provide quality leadership
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of automation techniques at each level of the code stack
- Show successful experience testing on complex application suites
- Use creative solutions to solve complex problems
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- Experience testing Java web applications
- Experience testing at the API and GUI layer
- Experience coding in Java
- Experience coding in Ruby
- Experience using Selenium WebDriver
- Experience using RSpec, JUnit, TestNG and/or Cucumber/Cucumber-JVM framework
- Experience using MSSQL
