The Position:The SOX Controller will be an integral leader within the finance organization, reporting to the Sr. Director of Accounting in Austin. You will work closely with business leaders, Expedia tax, external and internal auditors and finance to ensure we appropriately manage risk and operations in a rapidly changing business environment within the accounting, tax and treasury corporate framework, and also undertakes significant financial projects from time to time.

Key Areas of Responsibility: Lead the financial control and compliance environment for HomeAway, working closely with HomeAway accounting, Expedia corporate accounting, HomeAway reporting, tax, treasury and internal audit teams.

Process and Systems: ⁃ Work closely with the business to ensure that all workflows are documented and updated on a regular basis, making certain robust processes, controls and best practice are adhered
⁃ Ensure that for any finance or business initiative that a full understanding of financial process flows, risks and governance exists and is implemented
⁃ Update process documentation where a change in process has resulted in a change in financial controls
⁃ Be a key part of the product design process for new initiatives with a financial angle, ensuring controls are in place where necessary and operating effectively
⁃ Act as a liaison for the corporate internal audit and SOX teams and help ensure audits are facilitated and action points effectively implemented
⁃ Work with Expedia Inc. corporate audit team, as needed, ensuring audits are facilitated easily and any recommendations effectively implemented
⁃ Help to establish a framework for the ongoing review of existing controls to ensure they remain relevant to current business processes and are fit for purpose
⁃ Ensure that all areas of financial risk are clearly communicated and understood and that risk mitigation strategies exist
⁃ Assist in statutory audit tracking for HomeAway foreign entities and communication/coordination with Expedia tax
⁃ Provision of ad hoc business support when required
⁃ Work within teams on adhoc finance projects as and when required, ensuring best practice implementation
⁃ Continually push for improvement and development of the department, keeping pace with business changes and market best practice success depends on demonstrated ability to be a self-motivated individual with desire to drive process improvement while maintaining attention to detail
⁃ Initiative with necessary planning and time management skills to complete with multiple deadlines
⁃ Analytical mindset and financial accounting experience gained over the last 5+ years of career
⁃ Demonstrated the ability to work successfully and rapidly in a cross functional and international environment, leveraging your persuasive and collaborative approach to drive projects to successful resolution

Qualifications: ⁃ BS in Accounting, with 3-6 years of experience
⁃ Big four experience a plus
⁃ Prior experience with high volumes of transactional data
⁃ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required, Oracle Financials, Excel4Apps, and Blackline preferred
⁃ You are a strong communicator, self-starter, comfortable with all levels of management
⁃ Proven experience being proactive to improve and document departmental processes
⁃ Ability to interpret and research accounting guidance
⁃ Self-motivated, deadline oriented, fast-learner, who is a dedicated, hands-on team player with excellent problem-solving skills
⁃ Execution focused, with the ability to take individual responsibility for delivering quality work in a timely manner
⁃ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
⁃ Strong process and system skills, as well as the ability to work effectively across functions and teams to resolve problems
