VP, Digital Marketing

Reporting to our CMO, you will use your passion, experience and vision to lead and grow teams of Acquisition and Engagement professionals dedicated to increasing penetration in the highest opportunity merchant segments. Ultimately, your leadership, insights, and experience will be key to the performance of our Sales Organization as we look to rapidly accelerate our growth and, most importantly, the growth and success of our Merchants.
We’re seeking top talent with a proven track record of success and extensive experience in developing and executing B2B digital marketing strategies and programs. The ideal candidate has experience with defining the marketing strategy, developing and executing B2B campaigns, and leveraging the broader eco-system to drive merchant acquisition via multiple direct channels. You’ll be working closely with our leaders across Product Development, Sales, Strategic Business Development, and Marketing to influence new business acquisition and lifecycle strategy and execution.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a visionary and catalyst, drawing on deep knowledge of established and emerging digital demand creation methodologies to create and implement innovative strategies (digital acquisition, paid search and remarketing) that optimize the sales and marketing digital marketing mix and drive revenue through new partner and mid-market merchant acquisition.
- Own Top of Funnel and the success of team by meeting or exceeding all targets and performance metrics (e.g. lead generation, lead management, lead nurture).
- Serve as key stakeholder and advisor in efforts to maximize lifetime value.
- Lead the day to day operations of the team by offering thoughtful insights as well as technical and managerial leadership to the Director, Digital Marketing and to Director, Content Marketing, SEO, & Campaigns, and Director, Acquisition Marketing
- Role model best practices and negotiate solutions to complex challenges, where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth knowledge, by partnering with various stakeholders including executive management, business and technical stakeholders.
- Ensure team effectiveness, efficiency and scalability including building reporting and managing metrics using Marketo and Salesforce
- Lead, manage, motivate, and coach Marketers, Managers, and Directors to maximize their individual potential, contributions and professional growth as well as ability to lead their teams
- Define and employ a test and learn strategy that includes developing a test plan to test key ideas which should inform the rollout of your strategy.
- Build excellent working relationships with all key business leaders, colleagues and broader team
- Collaborate with other senior leaders to establish tactical and strategic plans and objectives (including but not limited to planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities)
- Propose innovative concepts and promote new ideas
- Develop methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
- Create effective processes, leveraging tools and resources to scale your businesses
- Develop a thorough understanding of both BigCommerce (i.e. products,services, and value proposition) and of the key attributes of the best BigCommerce Merchants
- Contribute to the development and implementation of corporate and/or organizational policies ·
Who You Are
- Successful Business-to-Business Digital Marketing Leader
- 15+ years B2B marketing experience, primarily in digital direct response (content, email, media buying, SEM, PPC, SEO, CRM, retargeting, mobile, etc.)
- 10+ years leadership experience, including 3+ years Director or above leadership at a $10M+ company overseeing cross-functional teams
- BA/BS in marketing, business or related fields from a four-year college or university; MBA preferred
- A deep understanding of the cause-and-effect relationship of website conversions.
- Expert level knowledge of the SaaS model and ecommerce space
- Vertical marketing expertise a strong plus.
- Technically Adept - You pick up on technical things quickly, enjoy learning new skills and knowledge, and are adept at staying ahead of the curve on relevant industry, company, product, or technical knowledge. You have deep understanding of digital marketing best practices and have a thorough understanding of Salesforce and Marketing Automation tools (i.e. Marketo) and other relevant ad technologies
