Assistant Controller
Full time. Remote.
SamCart is looking for a talented Assistant Controller to join our team. As an Assistant Controller, you will own all aspects of accounting, from the nitty gritty of coding AP invoices all the way to producing the company’s financial statements and driving important business decisions. You will partner with business leaders on processes, internal controls, spend and budget management, and other value-added, ad hoc analysis. You will collaborate with talented people who work hard and are committed to achieving our company mission, and we’ll have a lot of fun while we’re doing it. Responsibilities
- Ownership over the company’s financial statements including month end journal entries, reconciliations, and other processes
- Manage company spend including accounts payable and credit card transactions
- Assist in the generation of the company’s Annual Plan and reporting vs budget
- Oversee the annual external audit
- Oversee and improve internal controls
- Ad hoc analytics
- Execution of new accounting initiatives (examples could include intercompany transactions, sales tax collection optimization, revenue recognition for new revenue streams, etc)
- Monthly Sales Commission Calculations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
- CPA Required
- 3-5 years accounting experience (controllership, audit, staff accountant, etc)
- Ability to travel to Austin, Texas once per quarter
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, template building, and automation
- Ability to establish and improve processes
- An eye for building structure while simultaneously being flexible enough to adjust to changes in a growing startup
- Previous payroll experience a plus
- A desire to OWN Accounting
