Systems Administration- Tools Admin
Q2 is seeking a Systems Administration – Tools Administrator to join the Q2 Datacenter Operations team. This individual is responsible for the implementation, configuration, and support of the suite of tools for monitoring of the infrastructure and application environments. This includes the monitoring of network, storage, servers, and proprietary hosted applications and will work with others to design, build, implement and maintain the monitoring configurations needed for their systems, as well as train other personnel on the monitoring tools and how to best use them.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform day-to-day administration of LogicMonitor, Apica, JAMS, and other proprietary monitoring tools
- Provide technical support to ensure monitoring performance and reliability
- Perform implementation, maintenance, and upgrades of monitoring tools
- Participate in research and development of new tools
- Improve and implement new monitoring techniques
- Work directly with Team Leads to develop monitoring thresholds and event actions
- Work directly with Capacity Analyst to ensure infrastructure keeps pace with customer growth
- Transfer knowledge to implementation and operations staff
- Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings
- Participate in rotating 24x7 “on call” support coverage for data center related issues
- Perform maintenance related activities during scheduled weekend maintenance windows
- Perform Peer-level review of ‘Change Requests’
- Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
- Responsible for ensuring that all security, availability, confidentiality and privacy policies and controls are adhered to
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- 5+ years of related experience in Systems Administration
- Advanced working experience in LogicMonitor implementations or other enterprise monitoring tools
- Working experience with VMware
- Basic working knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
- Basic working knowledge of Linux OS (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.
- Basic working knowledge of monitor service types (WMI, SNMPv2/3, etc.
- MS SQL query writing experience and ability to generate reports using SQL
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure designs including servers, networking, security and how they function together
- Knowledge of Linux and micro-services-based architecture
- Intermediate to advanced demonstratable knowledge of at least one of the following: Python, PowerShell, Groovy
- Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
- Certifications or an interest in pursuing certification
