What Your Days Will Be Like: 

We are seeking a leader with vision to help us build out the data architecture of our world class Data Lake and Data Warehouse. The ideal candidate has expertise in data modeling, data warehousing, cloud architecture, and cloud migrations. Our tech stack includes Snowflake, Kafka streams, S3, Splunk, and Tableau. The Data Architect will be a hands-on contributor in the building out our Enterprise Analytics Data Models, Platforms, and Data Pipelines to enable rapid ingestion into our centralized data lake and empower the analytics team at Care.com.

The Data Architect will work across and with application teams and analytics teams at Care.com to rationalize data for ingestion and design/build data models to support a variety of analytics consumption use cases ranging from simple data aggregation to complex data mining.

The ideal candidate will have professional experience as a Data Architect at a top tier company. S/he will have an understanding of data warehousing, demonstrate strong business judgment and be able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Be Working On: 

  • Develop, manage, and maintain data models, including conceptual, physical, and logical models of the data warehouse and data lake and publish for internal consumption
  • Enable single definition of truth through collaboration with data engineers, application engineers, and BI analysts to create optimal structures for data ingestion and analytics reports/dashboards
  • Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies to ensure the highest quality platform and content
  • Partner with application architects and engineering teams in building new data pipelines
  • Partner with data warehouse team members in conducting a data migration to the new tech stack
  • Perform data analysis to profile data
  • Identify data sources and supervise data architecture diagrams
  • Partner with Data Engineers in the design, development, and implementation of database objects (tables and views)
  • Maintain deep and up-to-date knowledge of the data warehouse and data lake
  • Build new next generation data lake architectures and optimize existing data warehouse
  • Incorporate standard methodologies for security, performance, and data privacy into data design

What You'll Need to Succeed: 

  • 10+ years prior work experience as a Data Architect designing and deploying data solutions
  • Hands on approach
  • 5+ years demonstrable experience in data warehousing; experience in dimensional modeling (logical and physical)
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Analytical and conceptual abilities and a problem solving skills
  • Solid communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members at different level of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain performance level in a fast-paced agile environment with changing priorities and timelines
  • Pragmatic and realistic with solutions
  • Snowflake and Kafka experience is a plus


Education/Other Pre-requisites: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or other relevant fields; or equivalent work experience
