What You Will Do
Job Description
Ascension Technologies is hiring a Business Analyst to join the Relationship and Demand Management team.
Business Analysts at Ascension Technologies enable change by defining business needs and providing standard solution offerings that deliver value to identified stakeholders. They collaborate with relationship managers, clinical informaticists, enterprise architects, product owners, infrastructure teams and other areas as necessary to define and document demand requirements and facilitate the handoff to demand management and project execution.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team engaged in the reimagining of healthcare leveraging a digital-first, patient-centered approach across the care continuum.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities and Attributes:
  • Business Analysis:
    • Works with customers to clarify and plan for their current and future technology needs
    • Probes to the problem to be solved and works closely with partners inside and outside IT to assess technology requirements and identify potential technology solutions, always assessing existing technology investments as a first step
    • Understands cost components of healthcare projects and can compile and analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) for technology solutions
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Able to translate technical concepts for a variety of audiences
    • Facilitates the submission of technical assessments and technology-related contract requests
    • Conducts complex business process and data analysis, draws conclusions, synthesizes findings and makes actionable recommendations

Business and Technical Acumen:
  • Has knowledge of healthcare solutions and experience with healthcare solution definition
  • Follows standard process for demand intake, governance, analysis and solutioning
  • Applies business/clinical expertise to business/clinical problems to create high level application and end user system requirements
  • Makes sound decisions and takes initiative and accountability for the accuracy of information in the preparation and presentation of detailed proposals
  • Understands business needs, identifies inefficiencies in processes and proposes technology solutions for improvement
  • Works across multiple functional areas with a clear ability to understand operational and executive level needs
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and experience with software tools to create, edit, and analyze complex documents, spreadsheets, and presentations

    • Demonstrates solid IT critical thinking skills, drawing upon examples from past experiences
    • Must have the ability to juggle many moving parts and orchestrate forward progress across multiple teams
    • Arrives at decisions using analysis and problem-solving skills
    • Works collaboratively with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders
    • Self-starter who can work independently, think critically and take ownership of required deliverables
    • Is productive and efficient in planning and executing work; strives for excellence
    • Ability to produce high quality work products under pressure and within deadlines
    • Comfortable working with ambiguity and gray spaces

What You Will Need
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience required

Work Experience and Credentials:
  • 3 or more years of business analysis in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Business analysis certification a plus
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology a plus

Apply technical expertise in one or more information technology disciplines to support the organization's technical infrastructure.
  • Analyze a chain of events and apply technical knowledge following established procedures.
  • Successfully troubleshoot most application problems independently.
  • Participate in design, contributing technical insights and ideas.
  • Help formulate project scope and objectives.
  • Work with customers to understand and explain business and technical issues, respond to user problems, explain new technologies, and present deliverables.
  • Write basic documentation of a new or proposed system.
  • Share knowledge effectively within the work team.
  • Contribute to project plans, RFP's and RFI's.

What You Will Need
Education:
  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.

Work Experience:
  • 3 years of experience preferred
