The Director of Analyst Relations will be responsible for serving as the liaison between MongoDB and industry analysts to maximize exposure, value, and engagement across the analyst community. This person will lead proactive analyst outreach to enhance MongoDB’s reputation as the industry leader in application data platforms. This person will be responsible for defining the global strategy and executing analyst engagement plans that promote the breadth and depth of MongoDB solutions, while delivering an in-depth understanding of specific products and/or services.

The Director of Analyst Relations will work closely with cross-functional peers from product management, product marketing, sales, CTO and R&D teams, among others.

This role can be based out of our San Francisco, Austin or New York City offices or remotely in North America.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and execute the global Analyst Relations plan and meet its objectives for 2022
  • Lead and improve paid relationships with all analysts and analyst firms, with responsibility for subscriptions, research seats and GTM activities
  • Evaluate subscriptions and paid relationships to ensure we are getting the most for our investments
  • Create presentations and prepare MongoDB executives for engaging with analysts
  • Report on the overall performance of Analyst Relations programs to executives
  • Deliver ongoing AR program activities, including briefings, events, inquiries and other core program tactics, to engage analysts and influence analyst research on MongoDB,  its competitors, and the markets in which MongoDB competes
  • Identify where analysts have knowledge gaps and surface where MongoDB needs analyst feedback/direction to be successful and distill the outputs to inform future engagement strategies
  • Own MongoDB’s participation in competitive analyst evaluations in coordination with key stakeholders and secure positive placements about MongoDB in influential reports
  • Monitor the market landscape in coordination with the market intelligence team; drive alignment with sales, marketing, and product teams to maximize awareness of analyst insight and feedback, market trends, and AR program impact in a timely and digestible manner
  • Be an internal team-player by supporting strategic go-to-market programs (e.g., speaking at conferences and events, webinars, custom research) with relevant analyst support and provide cross-functional leadership to implement those activities
  • Prepare spokespeople for analyst engagements and create/offer feedback on content. Also, lead executive participation in analyst interactions and build and improve the bench of spokespeople across the organization

Success is

  • Improved corporate visibility and a more accurate perception of our current business among industry analysts across multiple categories relevant to the data, application platform and cloud marketplaces

Requirements

  • Proven success in an in-house analyst leadership role with a publicly traded company in the enterprise software industry
  • A leader who is able to both drive strategy and get tactical when needed to help get the job done
  • Positive relationships with contacts at Gartner, Forrester, IDC, 451 and other firms
  • Ability to understand technical concepts around the MongoDB platform and data management space
  • Experience in establishing relationships, including proactive outreach and facilitating contracts
  • Self-motivation, always looking for ways to take programs to the next level
  • Strong, positive, team leader who takes great pride in the quality, precision, efficiency and measurable results of their team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong executive presence
  • Adept at handling industry analyst involvement in sales deals
  • Ability to forge alliances with internal partners to deeply understand the strategy
  • Candidates must be willing to travel up to 25% (post-pandemic) to meet in person with key global analysts and influencers, attending key events
