We are looking for a Geotechnical Analyst to join our growing Geology team. This is a unique opportunity to launch or further develop your career in the field of Geologic Analysis and gain exposure to large amounts of data from multiple oil and gas plays. You will work closely with a team of skilled geologists and support our software and data development effort by providing technical data expertise. This position is based in Austin and reports to the Chief Geoscientist.
Competitive Candidate Profile:
- Familiarity of oil and gas wellbore infrastructure and subsurface concepts
- Experience using well log data and knowledge of log digitization processes
- Exemplified knowledge of formatting, standardizing various data and file types
- General understanding of Microsoft SQL Server relational databases and architecture
- Exposure to Python and Python data libraries
- Understanding of spatial data concepts – mapping software experience a plus
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Drillinginfo and/or oil and gas regulatory data
About the Role:
- Support a team of geologists by continuously providing quality-controlled subsurface data
- Maintain centralized database of geologic data generated from multiple Transform (our proprietary G&G software) repositories
- Resolve data issues and manage delivery to internal personnel
- QC data coming from multiple sources to ensure quality and integrity of data and make corrections when necessary
- Work with geologists, data architects, software engineers, testers and IT on project goals
- Qualitative Skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven office setting with a focus on results that always meet business requirements
- Experience working in collaborative team environments
- Proven ability to effectively communicate technical concepts
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting ability
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail a must
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering, Geography or a related field of study
