We are looking for a Manager of Business Analytics to help drive data-driven decisions across our business units and to continue enhancing our reporting strategy and infrastructure (Looker-centric). You will manage a wide range of stakeholders, and your work (and ability to communicate it) will influence business strategy across the organization. You will work hand-in-hand with our executive team, and your intellectual curiosity and attention to detail will help us to understand our business more fully, so we can drive internal accountability and serve our external audiences as effectively as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Own the structure of end-user data in Looker in order to maximize engagement across the organization and encourage data-driven decision making.
  • Work with data engineering to develop and implement new analytical tools and improve our underlying data infrastructure.
  • Drive optimization and data minded culture inside the company. Develop frameworks, models, tools, and processes to ensure that analytical insights can be incorporated into all key decision making.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets to develop a thorough understanding of Spruce’s products, users, and acquisition channels.
  • Analyze, forecast, and build custom reports to make key performance indicators and insights available to the entire company.
  • Monitor, optimize, and report on marketing and growth metrics and split-test results.
  • Run exploratory analysis to uncover new areas of opportunity, generate hypotheses, and quickly assess the potential upside of a given opportunity.
  • Effectively present and communicate analysis and recommendations to the company to drive business decisions.

Background

  • 3-5 years of proven work experience in an analytical role.
  • Experience extracting insights using advanced SQL to work efficiently at scale. Looker development experience a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability; the ability to answer unstructured business questions and work independently to drive projects to conclusion.
  • Demonstrated capacity to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be self-directed, organized and detail oriented as well as have the ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguous information to come up with creative solutions to challenging problems.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Looker.
  • Experience working at a high-growth startup.
  • Experience working in a marketplace or e-commerce business.
  • Demonstrated strength (educational or otherwise) in a quantitative field such as economics, mathematics, statistics, or computer science/engineering.
