Our team is creating a meaningful impact in a world of data breaches and hacked passwords. We also have a lot of fun doing it. We love learning from our customers through our research practice. Our project work and design systems span mobile and web interfaces. The team is highly collaborative and works closely with engineers and product managers. We are at an exciting moment in our growth. Now, as part of Cisco (Duo was recently acquired), we have the resources and reach of a global company while we keep our super fun culture.

A Senior Product Designer at Duo…

  • Thinks deeply about user experience and utilizes business rationale to inform their designs.

  • Collaborates closely with Project Managers, Engineers and others to bring a unique design-centric perspective to the table.

  • Plans and executes design research with customers and shares findings broadly across the organization.

  • Creates design solutions that scale for the future, but understands the technology constraints of now.

  • Inspires and leads the team toward real business outcomes, while living our "kinder than necessary" value.

In this role you will…

 

  • Lead large, multi-quarter initiatives that align with Duo’s top priorities. 

  • Help shape the overall product strategy, by applying your domain expertise and collaborating with peers across the R&D organization. 

  • Design solutions for an ecosystem of end-user touchpoints and administrative interfaces.

  • Play an active role in advocating for a Human-Centered Design process and creating a collaborative environment. 

  • Lead as a ‘player/coach’… hands-on design and mentoring less experienced designers.

 

Experience you bring includes…

 

  • 6+ years of professional (post-college) work in User Experience Design or related field

  • Deep expertise in Interaction Design, Design Research, and Information Architecture

  • Experience and examples of complex web applications you have worked on

  • Expert knowledge of Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, or other design and prototyping software

  • Working as part of a cross-functional product design team and partnering with engineering and product management teams

Demonstrates expert design skills, 

encourages or leads a team of other designers.Comfortable across the whole design process, and works with less experienced  product designers for mentorship and leadership.

 

Expert level and leads others in interaction design.

Design Crit lead for team, Pushes for design consistency and quality across design artifacts. 

Often contributes to the UI Kit, and identifies opportunities to expand our visual language.

Partners with Design Researchers to expand our capabilities and is comfortable executing all levels of research.Leads and initiates communications with stakeholders, feature teams, and leadership.

Strategy - Communicates the work of the team and how it relates to company goals.Owns planning and defining OKRs for their team.

Can interpret, add to, and execute against cross-functional plans.

Works with key stakeholders to make critical decisions.

Leads initiatives and meetings within the team and functional area.

Motivates and empowers teammates to achieve a higher level of performance. 

Garners resources for the whole team to complete its work.

 

  • A demonstrable history of implementing principles of Interaction Design, Information Architecture and Visual Design to create Human-Centered product experiences 

  • Mentoring and developing junior team members into accomplished design professionals

  • Planning and resourcing multi-quarter cross-functional projects

  • Using design and design research methodologies to facilitate cross team collaboration, problem solving and understanding.

  • Advocating for persona-driven design and presenting compelling design solutions to key partners

  • Participating and leading hiring activities and interviewing

 

  • Understanding of interaction design with examples of complex applications you have worked on

  • Using fundamental principles of visual design and information architecture to create easy to use and intuitive user interfaces

  • Identifying research needs, undertaking research studies, and crafting a story around research to educate partners

  • Creating documentation and deliverables to enable a common understanding of design goals, deliverables, and timelines

  • Effectively managing communication with partners across Product Design and feature teams

  • Defining and tracking goals and success metrics for projects
