As the Director of Customer Enablement and Technical Content, your role will be to define the strategic direction of our customer education and product documentation initiatives. You will be responsible for driving the adoption of Liquibase products and ensuring high user satisfaction.

This role provides oversight for the development and delivery of our organization’s online technical content. This includes a range of materials such as reference guides, release notes, implementation and user guides, best-practice guides, online help sections, knowledge bases, FAQs, troubleshooting guides, and e-Learning Courses.

You will lead a team of technical writers and technical content creators, and facilitate a group of subject-matter experts: professional services, user support, learning designers, and product managers.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for customer education and technical documentation that aligns with the company's goals and objectives, ensuring user mastery and adoption of all Liquibase products.
  • Lead and inspire a dynamic and strong team of technical writers and learning content creators, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Ensure the development and continuous improvement of technical documentation and learning materials, making them accessible, understandable, and effective for user needs.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships across various departments, leveraging these relationships to drive impactful cross-company initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product team, especially Product Managers, to align on a cohesive strategy and plan for product releases and major initiatives, ensuring documentation and educational content effectively support and enhance new product features and updates.
  • Champion industry-leading practices, processes, and tools within the team, setting new standards for excellence in customer education and technical content.
  • Assess and refine the effectiveness of content and training programs regularly, introducing innovations and enhancements to meet evolving customer requirements.

Must haves:

  • 3+ years of experience in a strategic or leadership role within a technical content or learning department at a software company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise content.
  • Experience with supporting both SaaS and On-prem software products.
  • Demonstrated success in enabling highly technical audiences, including developers, DevOps engineers, and database administrators.
  • Exceptional leadership and project management skills.
  • Demonstrable success with utilizing modern CMS systems and informed perspective on the strength and weaknesses of available alternatives.
  • Familiarity with software development processes and the ability to interpret code.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with frequent releases of multiple products.
  • Provide samples of previous technical content including documentation, website, or multimedia content.
  • Located in the Americas with the ability to travel to the US for company and team meetings up to 3-4 times per year.

Nice to haves:

  • Certification and/or degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Technical Writing/Technical Communication.
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience or PMP certification.
  • Understanding of learning management systems and related analytics.
  • Experience working cross functionally to design information architectures
  • Experience creating multimedia content such as narrated screencasts, animated videos, and illustrations.
  • Expertise with Git, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript within MadCap Flare.
