Job Description

Forcepoint is looking for a Cloud Systems Engineer III to join the Business Unit Infrastructure team.  This individual is well versed with cloud native technologies along with strong experience in core systems engineering skills.  The candidate will support existing global Data Center footprint and help build and integrate new systems into the public cloud.  This senior resource has experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and Agile methodologies to facilitate the transition to and from a hybrid Cloud platform.  The candidate has multiple years of experience and highly skilled in monitoring and troubleshooting systems at scale.

 

The successful candidate is customer focused, a self-starter, able and willing to work with geo-dispersed teams.  This role will also be responsible for mentoring less-experienced staff.

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop, publish, and implement technology lifecycle roadmap for hardware and systems portfolio
  • Publish and implement operational standards for all Cloud infrastructure and services
  • Lead development, documentation, and operationalization of system processes to enhance service delivery outcomes across the organization
  • Responsible for the availability, performance, monitoring, and capacity planning of the Cloud infrastructure
  • Create tooling and automation to continuously improve operational reliability of the on-prem and hybrid cloud infrastructure
  • Participate in incident, change, and problem management
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Linux systems and cloud native technologies such as, but not limited to, Apache Kafka, Spark, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Closely partner with Engineering and Technical Support teams to drive resolution of critical issues

     

 

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience related to Information Technology
  • 7-10 years experience as a Senior Systems Engineer
  • Deep experience in the design and deployment of Public Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Expertise in Windows/Linux (Server 2012/2016/RHEL/CentOS).  Industry certifications a plus
  • Expertise in virtualization technologies (VMware/Citrix/Hyper-V/KVM).  Industry certifications a plus
  • Proficient and self-reliant in at least one modern scripting or programming language such as Python and Go
  • Deep experience with infrastructure automation, such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible
  • Hands-on experience with core operations systems such as DNS, LDAP and NTP
  • Hands-on experience with core internet protocols such as HTTP, SSL, SMTP
  • Hands-on experience with containers and containers management such as Dockers, Kubernetes, Mesosphere DC/OS
  • Understanding of services at scale in large networks
  • Familiar with mission-critical databases, particularly MySQL and Redis
  • Familiar with Cloud native databases

We are located in the North Austin area by The Domain, off of Braker between Mopac and 183. Our office patio overlooks Quarry Lake.
