Engineering Manager, SRE Compliance- Duo Security

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead an SRE Compliance team in developing our best-in-breed platform for Duo's suite of products. The SRE compliance team is new and will help grow our compliance posture, prioritize compliance risk efforts in our architecture, and be a frontline for SRE Federal Infrastructure. Our ideal candidate has a passion for compliance (FEDRAMP, IRAP, et cetera), providing proof of our compliance posture and mitigating strategies, and partners with compliance and assessors to share our compliance story. You have experience mentoring and developing engineers. Ideal candidates have an ability to focus not just on the engineering problems but also the business as you interface with multiple departments to guarantee the stability and reliability of Duo's platform. You bring a flare for inspiring innovation and action from your teams. You have a proven track record of translating strategic goals into technical solutions and have operated and evolved a SaaS platform at scale. Operational experience including monitoring and alerting, capacity planning, developing and tracking KPIs is required. Experience creating measurable goals with milestones is a must.
What you will do:
- Build trust with, mentor, and grow the SREs on your team across distributed time zones and geographies
- Recruit and hire to strengthen the team, thinking critically about talent needs, opportunities, and organizational risk mitigation
- Work on the business with the SRE leadership team, continuously leveling up the organization's practices and driving adoption toward a mature SRE model
- Prioritize Compliance Risk and developer mitigation plans or solutions to the risk with your team.
- Work with Product management and SRE Leadership to drive value for our Federal Customers
- Lead the delivery of large scale, impactful projects to mature and scale Duo's platform as well as implement continuous improvements to automate toil
- Communicate cross functionally, especially with Product Development, Product Management teams and Compliance, to align the organization around resiliency, availability, and product goals
Skills you have:
- Proven experience in engineering management
- Proven experience in software engineering, focused on delivering and architecting highly available, fault tolerant web systems / services
- Expert grasp of SRE practices and rallying organizations around them
- A passion for Compliance and ability to assess compliance and business risk against work in progress. FEDRAMP and IRAP experience is a plus. As we expand Globally other Compliance efforts unfold.
- Communicates effectively about technical, as well as strategic concepts, to diverse audiences
- Enjoys operating autonomously with high level mentorship
- Demonstrates a bias towards action
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills
