Our SaaS platform provides over 14,000 contractors the financial tools they need to close more business, including financing solutions, invoicing, payment collections, insurance products, all in one, modern system designed specifically for the home improvement industry.

Backed by 8VC, Founders Fund, and other prominent leaders in Silicon Valley, Hearth has raised over $50M and is one of the fastest growing companies in the home improvement space.

About the Role:

We're looking for a Full-stack Engineer to solve technical, complex problems in the home improvement space.

Full-stack Engineers will work across the stack, enhancing our existing platform, and create new features and services for our users.

Think of the last Pull Request you merged at your previous job. Likely, it was code that ran in a small corner of your company's codebase, where its presence was appreciated but not noticed. At Hearth, your ideas and code will have a tremendous impact on the direction of our product, from the very first week.

We are a close-knit team that gets things done while having fun doing so. Engineers are empowered to learn, solving open-ended problems and maximizing their own growth. We view the company as a conduit for employees to reach their highest potential in an environment that provides mutual benefit for both parties.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Consistently ship features, services, and improvements to the Hearth platform in a secure, well-tested, and performant way
  • Create tools and processes that automate our development, testing, and production workflows
  • Build and own end-to-end solutions using a wide array of technologies
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers, and Data Scientists to create a high-quality solution
  • Craft and shepherd a culture of technical excellence through code reviews, pair programming, and system design sessions
  • Contribute to the codebase within your first week
  • Ideate with other departments to better solve our customer's problems
  • Build and own end-to-end solutions using a wide array of technologies
  • Maintain existing systems to ensure high quality and scalability

Here's what we're looking for:

  • At least two years of experience in building consumer-focused applications and services
  • A passion for building web and mobile applications or systems that support them
  • Proficiency in modern languages and frameworks, such as React, React Native, TypeScript, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Python, or Go
  • Experience with GraphQL and/or Apollo Studio
  • Experience writing self-testing code
  • Demonstrative ability to collaborate within and outside of Engineering
  • Evidence of exposure to architectural patterns of large, high-scale web applications/services (e.g. reusable components, well-designed APIs, high volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms)

Here's what we value:

  • Growth. Between hackathons, tech presentations, and weekly "Brain Gains," we encourage each member to keep up to date and learn about the latest technologies and how we can leverage them.
  • Ownership. We give you the context and resources necessary for you to feel empowered in what you build.
  • Empathy. We can't build the best product for our users unless we make time to understand their background and where they're coming from.

Engineers work closely with every department in the organization -- from sales and customer success to product and marketing. Come join a team that has an incredible impact on the success of the company!

Benefits:

  • Mission-driven, values-based culture.
  • Competitive pay.
  • Growth opportunities as we continue to grow and scale.
  • Generous PTO, plus paid company holidays.
  • Stock options.
  • Medical, dental, and vision options.
  • 401(k) package.
  • Upbeat, casual and fun office environment and culture.
  • Company-sponsored events & happy hours.
  • Pup-friendly office.
  • Stocked kitchen with cold brew, snacks & drinks to keep you energized!

Location:
We are hiring for this position in our office in downtown San Francisco, CA but are also open to remote-based team members
