About the Role
We are looking for a Solutions Engineering Manager to join our team to build and lead the US Central-based SE team. You will have the opportunity to grow, advance and lead a stellar team of solutions engineers, be a voice for the team to help ensure their success, while also being the customer interface of an exciting new technology. The SE organization reports into the SVP of Sales. The SE Manager position reports into the VP of Solutions Engineering (North America) and is aligned with the sales leader for US-Central.
The candidate should possess the following:
- Experience with managing and building a team of high-caliber sales-focused engineers
- Experience with presenting technical value to audiences of all levels, including manager, director and CxO-levels
- Strong desire to be a manager/coach and lead by example and from experience
- Excellent presentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of application and network protocols (e.g., HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, BGP)
- Knowledge of application and network infrastructures
- Knowledge of unified communications
- Experience with application and network performance analysis solutions
- Experience with packet analysis of network and application protocols
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, Javascript)
- Experience with Apple, Linux and Microsoft operating systems
Responsibilities include:
- Define, oversee and support the technical sales process
- Assist team in approach to technical prospecting to help uncover opportunities
- Guide team on best ways to showcase solution value, capabilities and use-cases
- Review RFI/Ps and responses to ensure opportunity fit
- Support team during trials and delivering trial wrap-up presentations
- Recommend and review solution scope and deployment architecture proposals
- Help support customers in areas of direct responsibility within the region
- Participate as a member of the Solutions Engineering leadership team
- Actively recruit high-quality candidates who would excel within the company
- Meet regularly with staff to understand their needs/challenges to ensure success
- Share experiences and encourage idea sharing
- Challenge the team through feedback, assignments, and growth opportunities
- Recommend weekly meeting agenda topics that would benefit the team
- Assist with weekly meetings by arranging content creation and delivery
- Maintain a technology/industry leadership position by gaining knowledge through research
- Organize and lead quarterly business review meetings and breakout sessions
- Interface with Marketing:
- Support trade shows and networking events and provide feedback on their value
- Support ThousandEyes Connect and recommend customers who could present
- Establish ideas for blog content and encourage team to contribute
- Suggest new white-papers and case-studies, and contribute to content creation
- Understand requirements from marketing, prioritize and relay to leadership team
- Interface with Product Management and Engineering:
- Provide solution feedback from team, customer interactions and hands-on use
- Obtain and submit tactical and strategic solution enhancements
- Participate and provide feedback on internal and external solution beta programs
- Interface with Customer Success:
- Assist and provide guidance on scoping post-sales deliverables
- Coordinate post-sales activities with account, customer and post-sales teams
- Evaluate post-sales effectiveness to an efficient and successful process
- Encourage and guide customers to utilize support as an extension of their NOC
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience and proven track record in a Technical Sales or related profession
- 2+ years of technical sales leadership experience is desired
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- Experience with Salesforce
- Moderate travel required
