Quality Engineer II
BigCommerce, named a "Best Place to Work" in Austin 2016 is looking is looking for a full-time Quality Engineer for our downtown Austin office who wants to make an impact to every level of society through powering innovators, creative thinkers, entrepreneurs and business owners around the world to be successful at each stage of their business.
What you’ll do:
- Define test strategy and provide technical guidance in driving quality in new feature development
- Advocate test priorities in daily scrum meetings and sprint planning
- Breaking applications in ways the developers never thought about
- Authoring and maintaining automated build/test/regression suites which will be required prior to each release.
- Improve test frameworks and environments; develop test tools as needed.
- Ensure the code your team merged to Master is always in a releasable state
- Support frequent deployments to production
- Improve the quality of developer output via training & coaching
Who you are:
- Automated continuous integration build and testing platforms (Solano Labs, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc)
- Automated testing frameworks and languages (Selenium WebDriver, PHP, jQuery, RSpec, Capybara, Cucumber, etc)
- Testing both with and without a GUI (RESTful API, Web services, etc)
- Issue tracking tools such as Jira, Bugzilla, etc
- Strong knowledge of Distributed Version Control Systems (Git, Github, etc)
- Writing bug reports that developers believe
- 3+ years of experience as a QA Engineer / Software Test Engineer
- 3+ years experience testing web applications and OOP languages
- Experience with SaaS platforms or Cloud Computing highly desirable
- Solid UNIX / LAMP knowledge (ideally 2+ years working experience with PHP, MySQL, and Linux)
- Ability to troubleshoot reported issues by tracing back to code or mySQL
- Experience with Agile methodologies, in particular SCRUM, XP, Kanban
Desirable Skills:
- Have an excellent ability to communicate and to coordinate
- Will speak up when something just doesn’t feel right w/productive feedback
- Can read and understand code. Ability to find application weaknesses.
- Have excellent problem solving, critical thinking and debugging skills.
