Senior DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a passionate, curious, and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing Engineering Operations team. Our Senior DevOps Engineer will build and support the platforms on which SamCart is built. Leveraging extensive experience in AWS services, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, CI/CD platforms, and real- time monitoring and metrics systems, this role will design, build, and support systems that facilitate deployment of fast and safe applications at internet scale. This role will collaborate with the Engineering Operations team to monitor production health and proactively respond to service degradations. Working in tandem with the Engineering team, the Senior SRE will ensure the high availability of our software for our users, while evangelizing adoption of modern reliability best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Manage software application environments running in AWS.
- Collaborate with engineers in platform architecture design leveraging AWS services and DevOps best practices, paying particular attention to security, scalability and high-performance.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Setup and maintain monitoring, metrics, and reporting systems for fine-grained observability and actionable alerting.
- Author technical documentation for workflows and processes.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of professional experience in site reliability engineering
- At least 2 years of professional experience in software development
- Expert knowledge of Amazon Web Services, including IAM, CloudFront, VPC, EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS and CloudWatch
- High proficiency with continuous integration systems such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, and CodePipeline
- Extensive expertise in systems tools like Bash, Git and Docker, as well as infrastructure-as-code and configuration management like Terraform, Ansible, and Chef
- Demonstrated experience with application monitoring and profiling tools, such as BugSnag and PagerDuty
- Fluency with scripting languages such as PHP, JavaScript, Python, and Ruby
