As a Senior Software Engineer on the Carrier Services team, you will get to build highly scalable backend services to deliver the best freight shipping experience in the world. You will work in modern Typescript codebases to deliver features to our Android and iOS apps and execute against a backlog of features designed to deliver the best freight shipping experience to our carriers. In this role, you will partner with a passionate team of engineers, product managers, and designers dedicated to understanding and meeting the needs of our carriers. 

This role will require a background in building and iterating on scalable back-end systems and critical business logic. A passion for delighting customers with incredible software is a must, as our team operates in a collaborative and initiative-driven mindset. In order to work cross-functionally across the organization, excellent communication and willingness to take risks and push boundaries will be required. 

What You'll Do

• Implement features to enhance our mobile carrier app experience
• Lead business-critical projects and architect core systems that are maintainable and meet product needs
• Debug and support live production issues
• Investigate and implement new tools that support our fast paced development
• Build for scalability, as we rapidly expand our network
• Set technical standards, coding guidelines, and best practices for the Engineering organization
• Mentor junior developers across the engineering department
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience as a Senior Software Engineer at a well-established organization or at a high-growth company 
• Experience with modern programming languages (such as Javascript/Typescript, Python, Java)
• Strong core computer science principles
• Experience designing and building scalable APIs and microservices to support mobile and web clients
• Ability to write comprehensive unit and integration tests and put testing at the forefront
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative environment
• Excellent communication skills, and ability to boil down complex engineering decisions into wording any stakeholder can understand

Compensation Philosophy

We're committed to compensating people well, not only through cash and equity (options), but with 99% employer-covered medical, vision, dental, and disability insurance as well. All employees are offered a work-from-home stipend, monthly internet stipend, and a 4% 401(k) match.

At Mothership, we believe it's vital to offer a range of compensation packages, so you have the power to make the appropriate financial decision for yourself and your family. Upon offer, you will receive a breakdown of 5 different cash vs. equity packages to choose from, with additional information on estimated equity valuation.

The cash portion for this role ranges from $146,200 - $182,750.

We offer equity options in ISO that vest over four years with a one-year cliff. The % and value will be discussed later in the interview process.
