Who We Are

The name ThousandEyes was born from two big ideas:  the power to see things not ordinarily possible and the ability to collect insights from a multitude of vantage points. As organizations rely more on cloud services and the Internet, the network has become a black box they can't understand.   Our Internet and cloud intelligence platform delivers the only collectively powered view of the Internet, cloud and SaaS platforms, helping enterprises and service providers work together to identify problems before it impacts revenue, damages brand reputation, or halts employee productivity.

In August 2020, Cisco Systems completed the acquisition of ThousandEyes, which now forms the ThousandEyes Business Unit within Cisco’s Network Services Business Group, and is a foundational component of Cisco’s growing Observability business.

What You’ll Do

The Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) is a hands-on technologist who works as a part of the product marketing team. The TME will focus on outage analysis.

The TME must be a technical expert. The TME must have the ability to clearly articulate the technical differentiators of a product, and to back that differentiation up with hands-on technical work that showcases and provides demonstrable proof points. The primary internal customers for the TME’s work will be Solutions Engineering and Business Development.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Outage analysis
  • Define common, repeatable use-cases and technical collateral specific to the activities of the Solutions Engineering team in the sales process (i.e. use-case specific trial scoping documents, trial best practices, proof-of-value documents, demos, library of share-links, etc.)
  • Create internal-facing SE Reference Architectures with technical content contributed by experienced field SE’s
  • Create external-facing Deployment Guides for submission to the Marketing team for final approval
  • Maintain an internal SE team information repository (i.e. Confluence Wiki)
  • Ideate, design, build, maintain, and evolve a demonstration lab environment. The purpose of the lab environment is to offer a production lab as a service for the solutions engineering team with ready-to0use demos for our product and solutions.
  • Build and maintain a standing SE Demo environment for each use case
  • Lead advanced use-case validation and demonstration creation efforts for new technologies (SD-WAN, eco-system integrations, etc)
  • Work with internal IT operations to coordinate demo environments that touch production systems
  • Act as a demo expert resource to train and support SE’s, provide executive and practitioner level demos in sales and marketing settings, and respond to sales and business development opportunities.
  • Act as an integration expert resource to assist the business development team in showcasing integration possibilities and proposals to current and prospective partners.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support sales, enablement, marketing efforts as required.
  • Work on hands-on technical aspects of market and competitive analysis as needed.
  • Provide key input point to the Product Management teams as an internal beta customer representing real-world use case scenarios.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive customer and field experience is a must.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills required.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise and service provider networking products, OS versions, feature-sets and commonly used protocols across multiple vendors such as Cisco, Juniper and Arista.
  • Prior experience as a TME or Sales Engineer is a must.
  • Software development or advanced scripting capabilities, and experience with automation and orchestration is a must.
  • Prior operational network engineering experience a plus.
  • Driven, with an entrepreneurial spirit and sense of urgency. Must be resourceful, proactive and aggressive.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and possessing a high level of integrity.
  • Natural leader and team player with high EQ that works well in collaborative situations and start-up environments. Able to collaborate effectively with internal expert resources.

Why Cisco

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference powering an inclusive future for all.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re “old” (36 years strong) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software company. And a security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do –you can’t put us in a box! But “Digital Transformation” is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colourful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us.

We recognize that diverse teams make the strongest teams, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
