The Data Science Team at SailPoint builds that AI and ML foundation for our products. Our models power some of the most compelling and innovative features in our product suite, and the work spans many AI domains, including Generative AI and LLMs, Recommender Systems, Graph ML, and more traditional forms of supervised and unsupervised learning.
If you have proven experience developing and deploying machine learning models and a passion for leading teams to build high-quality and intuitive AI products, we'd love to talk. This is a high impact role. The team, the scale of our ML model deployments, and the scope of our mandate are increasing quickly, and we're looking for someone eager to be a core part in growing our team and building the ML culture at SailPoint.
Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of data scientists tasked with building our AI models.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to identify and clarify business questions to answer.
  • Translate business questions into tractable analysis and evaluation metrics.
  • Provide technical mentorship to data scientists on the team and help decompose complex and ambiguous data science projects into incremental milestones.
  • Prioritize the team's work to align with our broader AI roadmap to maximize impact.
  • Establish processes to improve the efficiency of R&D and promotion of prototypes from R&D to product, with emphasis on testability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Coach and develop direct reports to scale our ML organization.


Qualifications

  • M.S. or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field, preferred not required
  • 1-3 years of people management experience with data scientists.
  • 5+ years of industry experience with data science and machine learning.
  • Proven experience building and deploying ML models in a production setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort communicating with diverse technical stakeholders, including Product Manager, Data Science, Engineering, and DevOps.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to execute on ambiguous research tasks, distilling the essence of complex problems and translating to incremental goals.
  • (Bonus): Experience publishing at academic conferences, especially in the AI/ML space.
  • (Bonus): Experience with LLMs and associated open source and cloud technologies.
