The Opportunity

Searching for your next challenge? We are currently looking for a Corporate Controller to join our rapidly-growing company. The Corporate Controller will report to the CFO. Primary responsibilities include leaving all activities for Accounting, Tax, and Treasury functions, which also includes recommending and implementing policies and procedures to drive best practices. The Corporate Controller will have oversight for ensuring GAAP compliance, tax compliance, and bank compliance. The role will also support investor reporting requirements. The role will lead efforts to support the financial statement audit and ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place while supporting timely and accurate financial reporting with a high level of integrity.

The right candidate will have experience working in a high-growth environment and the ability to drive continuous improvement of accounting and finance systems and processes to ensure the infrastructure can scale and support the rapid growth of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing/Invoicing, AR, AP, and General Accounting

  • Enhance accounting policies and documentation to maintain and strengthen internal controls

  • Responsible for the coordination of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

  • Prepare internal and external financial statements in accordance with US GAAP

  • Research technical accounting issues and implement processes to ensure GAAP compliance

  • Oversee and manage annual financial statement audit and tax compliance with external auditors and tax consultants

  • Support FP&A and the CFO in monthly departmental budget cycles

  • Responsible for cash management and reporting

  • Support FP&A and the CFO in the weekly cash-forecasting process

  • Responsible for state and local compliance, annual reports, and informational reporting

  • Oversee accounting implementation responsibilities on M&A projects to ensure a timely and effective transition of critical accounting functions

  • Support CFO with bank and investor relations

  • Establish and track key metrics related to the key accounting functions to increase the efficiency of the financial statement close and other accounting processes

  • Support risk management and business insurance functions

  • Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to participating in special projects, system improvements, and ad hoc analysis as assigned 

 Qualifications

  • CPA required

  • Advanced degree in Accounting, in addition to a Bachelor’s degree

  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience, including people management

  • Public Accounting experience a plus

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing accounting processes, policies, procedures, and documentation and reporting

  • Experience with building and effectively managing an accounting team

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP

  • Strong knowledge of accounting systems, expense software, MS Excel, revenue recognition, purchasing, and reporting

  • Experience supporting multiple business-unit P&Ls and cost accounting allocations

  • Prior start-up experience is preferred

  • Experience with managing outsourced contractors, consultants, and service providers

  • Problem-solving experience and ability to translate such skills to solve and think through complex issues and process improvements

  • Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills as well as good listening skills and the tact to know when to push for critical changes

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
