Revenue Accountant
We’re hiring an Advanced Revenue Accountant.

The primary focus of the Advanced Revenue Accountant is to track, report, and analyze the revenue and cost of sales metrics for Q2’s product offerings. This includes, but is not limited to, determining all customer contracts are accurately recorded in our accounting system; customer contracts are billed accurately and timely over the life cycle of the committed term of the contract; and, that all revenue and direct cost of sales is recognized in accordance with current GAAP. This position will interact with other accounting teams and other departments and will be involved in several key accounting functions as outlined below.
Essential Job Functions:
Manage and validate subscription data in the GL system to facilitate accurate billing and revenue recognition
Interpret key terms and conditions in customer contracts as they relate to billings
Liaise with the Pricing Committee regarding usage reporting and compatibility of proposed new product fee structures with existing billing practices and systems
Gather customer usage data from 3rd party vendors; analyze and format for input on invoices
Identify and promote best practices/process improvements in revenue accounting, primarily usage billing
Work with IT to develop a roadmap for a longer-term solution to usage metrics gathering/usage billing processes
Work with IT Business Analyst to document revenue accounting requirements, perform gap analysis and assist with build/buy decisions to address gaps in usage gathering processes
Communicate directly with other Q2 teams to effectively represent the revenue accounting team’s interests and requirements to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition
Analyze revenue and cost of sales reporting utilizing data modeling and trend analysis techniques
Support audit activities and be a liaison with both internal and external auditors regarding questions and issues surrounding customer billings and revenue recognition
Assist with research and resolution of discrepancies identified in monthly revenue reviews and explain variances
Prepare journal entries, as required, for the monthly revenue recognition/billing process
Other special projects as assigned
Requirements:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 6+ years of experience; or equivalent related work experience.
8 years of related revenue accounting experience or 5-7 years of public accounting experience
Prior revenue accounting experience required, SaaS revenue accounting experience a plus
Working knowledge of ASC 606 is a plus
Prior systems implementation/data migration experience a plus
Advanced MS Excel knowledge required (Pivot Tables, Financial Model creation and analysis)
NetSuite SuiteBilling /Advanced Revenue Management System, and SalesForce experience a plus
