Care.com is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Accounting and Finance team in the position of Senior Accountant of Revenue and Automation. The ideal candidate should have solid financial accounting skills, excellent organization skills, a continuous improvement mentality, an outgoing “service” oriented attitude, and an enthusiastic desire to assume ownership for their role in the Company.

What You'll Be Working On:

• Own the preparation of the accounting for our Care consumer revenue streams (largely subscription-based) including reconciliation of automated processes and journal entries for manual processes
• Partner with the Business Intelligence team to increase automation within existing revenue subprocesses to improve efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes
• Partner with the Product / Ops team to understand new projects in the pipeline and assist with determining accounting treatment and operationalizing the recording of revenue for these new revenue streams
• Own the sales tax function including collection and remittance of taxes, state filings, coordination with our service provider (Vertex), and reconciliation of ledger accounts and activity details at month-end
• Perform cash application functions related to Care consumer revenue stream
• Own accounting for certain revenue / receivable related allowances and reserves including the policies and month-end entries and reconciliations
• Prepare entries related to the capitalization and amortization of commissions
• Work with SOX compliance, internal audit, and external audit around IT and manual controls in place over Care consumer revenue processes
• Assist with preparation of monthly/quarterly financial reports and analyses for senior management and others

What You'll Need to Succeed:

• Firm understanding of US GAAP revenue recognition
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with general ledger software, Excel, and other office tools (Outlook, MS Office, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience performing and documenting monthly close processes and maintaining supporting documentation for financial transactions
• Excellent general work habits, including willingness to work hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important and inevitable deadlines cause greater than normal department pressures
• Database/SQL or Workday ERP system experience not required but a plus

Education/Other Pre-Requisites: 

• BA/BS in accounting or business
• 4-5 years of postgraduate work experience, preferably public accounting and/or tech industry accounting
• CPA a plus, but not required
