What You'll Do:
LogicMonitor is disrupting the observability market and changing the way businesses take disparate sources of data and turn it into action. We are already a leader in this space - and we started by solving the hardest, most complicated problem first. With roots in the IT Infrastructure Monitoring space, we are on an evolutionary journey heading toward what’s next - unified observability. Our platform enables enterprise resiliency through data insights from the infrastructure, network, and application. As we enter this next phase of growth, we are in search of a Sr. Revenue Analyst.
As a key member of the Revenue team at LogicMonitor, you will be responsible for reviewing and summarizing customer contracts for proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and revenue recognition accounting standards. Beyond rolling up data accurately, you will look to validate the numbers by understanding the “story” behind them, performing variance analysis as well as developing and continuously refining insightful dashboards and presentations. In this position, you will have the opportunity to resolve issues related to billing, revenue recognition, and potential deals within our sales pipeline along with helping operations & business partners understand the key drivers in complex revenue situations and drive thoughtful and share-holder oriented decision making. You will also be a major contributor to the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions along with team projects and process improvements.
Here's a closer look at this key role:
Finance Operations:
- Review revenue contracts for application of appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP and the Company's revenue recognition policy.
- Head month-end close activities, including preparing monthly revenue recognition journal entries, monthly revenue analytics, accounts receivable, and deferred revenue account reconciliations.
- Drive the Company's ASC 606 accounting, including SSP, working with Revenue Manager and across departments to ensure our systems are designed appropriately.
- Manage the sales tax reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely filling with the relevant taxing authority
- Partner with FP&A to develop and provide ongoing analysis and forecasting of revenue and deferred revenue
- Proactively identify areas for process improvement and partner with other departments to streamline processes related to revenue and cost recognition to create best practices across the organization
- Provide training to business partners while working closely with them to ensure consistency in application of policies and practices
- Assist in annual financial audits, including the preparation of revenue schedules and supporting documents to the external auditors
Business Systems:
- Assist Business Systems in the evolution of our accounting systems, rev rec architecture, and automated reports.
- Partner with Business Systems to drive improvements in the systematic reporting of revenue metrics
FP&A Operations:
- Assist FP&A with reporting and forecasting related to revenue recognition and deferred revenue
- 3+ years’ progressive accounting experience, including revenue accounting (Tech industry and/or public company and/or Big4 public accounting experience a strong plus).
- University degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA certification a plus.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP (specifically revenue recognition guidance) and standard accounting processes and controls.
- Strong background in accounting or finance, business processes and internal control evaluation along with analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience applying these skills to resolve operational accounting process and system issues.
- Effective communication skills - including the capability to listen to the needs of others, articulate issues in a clear and concise manner, and present findings as well as recommendations in both oral and written presentations.
- Ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks, work independently and deliver results in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Experience with Excel, Netsuite, Avalara, SalesForce, Zuora, or similar finance IT platforms
