Provides leadership and oversight to the HR Shared Services Operations Team. Ensures effective transactional support for the full range of HR functions and services company-wide. Works closely with HR functional and departmental leaders, client leaders, and Team Members to define operational requirements and procedures. Ensures all transactional processes comply with company policy and with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a business owner for HR Shared Services processes, policies and operations.
  • Oversees development and implementation of operational strategies, policies and practices that ensure quality, cost, and service delivery expectations are met.
  • Directs the recommendation, development, and execution of applicable policies that meet strategic objectives and lead to process improvement.
  • Monitors global operational practices and outcomes to identify:
    • Client satisfaction levels and trends,
    • Data input, update, and maintenance effectiveness,
    • Timeliness and accuracy of Operations service delivery,
    • Cost reduction opportunities,
    • Areas of success,
    • Areas of concern.
  • Develops and recommends comprehensive strategy, process and system changes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and reduce costs. 
  • Advises staff on policy, direction, and philosophy.

Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of the full range of HR’s programs, processes, and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR Shared Services’ methods and practices, including data input and update, issue identification and resolution, and providing HR and process-related advice to Team Members and Team Leaders.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory factors governing and impacting HR’s programs, processes, and practices.
  • Engages with other leaders to design, maintain and champion the mission, vision, and strategy of the organization.
  • Defines, develops and implements initiatives to enhance HR Shared Services’ programs and processes.
  • Monitors HR Shared Services’ staffing and resource requirements, ensuring effective forward and contingency planning.
  • Develops deep, credible relationships with senior-level executives, both inside and outside current areas of responsibility.
  • Engages with senior-level stakeholders to define, clarify and resolve issues related to HR Shared Services’ objectives, processes and outcomes.
  • Engages with other leaders to formulate the organization’s long-term strategic direction.
  • Defines strategies and approaches to empower and equip leaders to be effective in their interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifies gaps in strategic understanding, formulates resolution recommendations and delivers clear and compelling communication.
  • Shifts comfortably between big picture strategic thinking and the tactics required to achieve outcomes.
  • Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects and activities.
  • Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.
  • Conducts regular and ad-hoc reviews with team, stakeholders, partners and customers.
  • Oversees and advises other leaders on task and project-related issues and assists with overcoming barriers.
  • Advance understanding of the WFM business, retail food industry, and the business models of key strategic partners and competitors.
  • Able to assess how key functions, processes, and operating models impact business and financial performance then delivers recommendations on how to optimize them.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 8-10 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • 4-6 years’ leadership experience.
