Provides legal advice, guidance and support concerning business transactions, claim liability, lawsuit prosecution or defense, and legal rights and obligations. Studies and reviews current and proposed legislation and provides legal opinion and advice to relevant decision-makers on pertinent issues. Interprets laws, rulings, and regulations for business implications. Represents the company in legal actions. Leads written discovery, due diligence, and trial preparation. Drafts consulting, confidentiality, and vendor agreements. Coordinates legal matters handled by outside counsel. Areas of responsibility may include one particular area or span multiple areas including litigation; transactions; regulatory; securities, finance and governance; retail/corporate operations; employment labor law; or other matters.

Antitrust and Competitive Practices Attorney

Whole Foods Market is seeking to hire an attorney with expertise in the laws and regulations related to antitrust, competition, and pricing that apply to the unique products and technologies of Whole Foods Market. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills and enjoy working in a collaborative manner to achieve company goals.

Primary Responsibilities

In this role you will serve as an internal resource to Whole Foods Market team members to address federal, state, local, and international regulatory compliance matters related to antitrust, competition pricing, weights & measures, price-scanner accuracy, and other regulatory issues. Responsibilities of this role include the following:

• Obtain and communicate timely advice on laws and regulations regarding antitrust, competition, pricing, weights & measures, price-scanner accuracy, promotions, and related subject matter expertise

• Develop, improve, and deliver training on the company’s global legal position and strategy

• Formulate and deliver advice on regulatory compliance
• Respond to regulatory agency requests, notices, and enforcement action after conducting timely investigations and research
• Researching and providing advice with respect to new market trends, including pending and developing competition laws and regulations
• Provide additional support and assume additional responsibilities, as needed
• Active contributor to cross-functional teams’ development of new products and technologies that require applicable legal and regulatory guidance

Qualifications

Candidates must have the following qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school

• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience as a practicing antitrust attorney
