Senior Product Counsel

We are seeking a Senior Product Counsel to support our business, working directly with business leaders on a number of complex legal issues such as data privacy, intellectual property and advertising. You will contribute to other Legal Department goals and initiatives as needed as well as collaborate with members of our legal team and that of our corporate parent Harland Clarke Holdings.
Who You Are:
- Juris Doctor required; licensed by a state bar
- You have at least 8 years of relevant experience with a combination of nationally recognized law firm and in-house experience preferred
- Experience advising clients regarding consumer-focused web-based businesses and a high level of comfort with technology preferred
- You have a proven ability to handle a broad range of legal issues, including privacy matters, intellectual property, consumer protection, and advertising
- You are a business-focused, intellectually curious legal adviser who thrives when dealing with critical situations and is not afraid to make decisions; have a track record of exercising ownership and delivering results; demonstrates excellent judgment, creativity, technical expertise, initiative and communication skills; knows the value of positive relationships
What You'll Do:
- We want you to be a strategic business partner across the organization
- You will provide legal advice to our product, engineering, and marketing teams from the initial stages of product development to launch
- You will negotiate, draft and review a broad range of legal agreements to support those business functions, including terms of service, privacy statements, and technology contracts
- You will advise on advertising regulations and review materials produced by the marketing team, including press releases, articles, research, videos, marketing materials, advertisements and the company website
- You will support initiatives involving data privacy, information security, and risk & loss prevention
- Advise, train, and implement processes in collaboration with the Company’s Legal Operations team to ensure compliance with U.S. laws and regulations dealing with intellectual property, data, privacy, consumer protection, and advertising
- You will work in close partnership with your legal colleagues and engage with outside counsel as appropriate
- You will report directly to the Chief Legal Counsel and Compliance Officer
