DIRECTOR, PRODUCT MARKETING
The Director of Product Marketing is a highly strategic role for WP Engine reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Marketing. The position requires a track record of success bringing new features and products to market to grow revenue, as well as leadership experience acting as senior editor of product marketing content while nurturing professional growth of product marketers. This role also requires the ability to foster strong partnerships across the company including demand generation, brand/creative, product management, sales, and customer success together with executive leaders to help WP Engine continue its aggressive growth trajectory.
As the Director of Product Marketing, you will learn everything there is to know about our customers and agency partners to champion needs and understand the buying cycle. You'll help to triage product, customer, and competitive forces to establish product marketing as the go-to resource for field enablement (sales reps + customer success managers). You'll help to establish product marketing as the voice that supports and helps to shape press, analyst, investor, and other communications about the WP Engine platform. And perhaps most importantly, you will guide a group of talented product marketing managers to effectively bring both new features and whole new products to market, while helping to track and report out marketing strategy success of existing products across the product marketing org.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead and support team of product marketing managers, setting each up to act as spokespeople for their areas of expertise at WP Engine events and training programs.
  • Drive go-to-market strategy and market adoption for WP Engine's Enterprise product lines, including Premier - the Enterprise WordPress platform, and Atlas - the Headless WordPress platform.
  • Oversee cross-portfolio WPE content with inputs from PMMs, ensuring consistency of story-telling approach (WPE pitch material, customer-facing roadmap update, etc); and partner with VP on WP Engine's Summit content strategy
  • Act as senior editor of foundational PMK content, working with and coaching Enterprise PMM SMEs to define requirements for effectiveness, passing along go-to-market plans, key messaging or content for exec approvals as needed.
  • Lead assimilation of competitive intel (win/loss reports, reporting inputs from PMMs)
  • Formulate and orchestrate plan to deepen WPE understanding of pain points, personas and value propositions for our target segments to further hone messaging and positioning
  • Build a sales-enablement engine that increases win-rates and ensures learnings from lost opportunities
  • Develop "run the business" systems with regular roll-up reporting for PMM activity, timelines and impact, crafting monthly summary/impact reports.
  • Work with VP on priorities, growth needs and/or budget needs over time for team
  • Some travel domestically and internationally (TBD when post COV-ID!)


WHO YOU ARE

  • Analytically minded with a passion for uncovering data and insights that informs decisions
  • Ability to dive into technical, but then effectively step out to synthesize insights into simple and compelling narratives
  • Easy breezy personality that helps keep others calm by example through the natural chaos and excitement of fast-paced environment
  • Experienced servant leader who understands what is required in content synthesis to deliver digestible executive summaries of go-to-market or integrated marketing plans and work-in-progress to guide this across team members; also has focus to make decisions and drive projects from idea to roll-out and coach product marketers through the process.
  • Quite happy to prop Product Marketing Managers up as "stage people" presenting their areas of expertise while you focus on operational oversight, editing and review of team member artifacts, and leading research for the team.


EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience that can span product marketing, product management, and brand marketing, with at least 5+ years of product marketing
  • 3+ years experience leading a team of individual contributors.
  • Experience working with technical products and buyers, with strong preference for experience with headless web development technologies and frameworks.
  • Experience at SaaS or Platform-as-a-Service companies targeting mid-market, enterprise customers
  • Global experience a plus, including enabling a globally distributed sales force
