Senseye is a NeuroTechnology Company in Austin, TX on the cusp of revolutionizing Mental Health. Over the past 6 years we have invested millions of dollars in R&D to build our platform allowing us to measure cognitive activity via the eye through mobile phones. Through multiple iterations and use cases we are now focused on building the world's first Objective Mental Health Diagnostics on top of our core technology. Our first diagnostic is for PTSD and is entering clinical trials now, followed soon by additional indications for Anxiety and Depression. As the world struggles with a mental health crisis, it is not hyperbolic to suggest that an objective diagnostic platform, that gives clinicians a safe and objective accurate approach to identifying and monitoring mental health disease, will redefine how mental health services are provided, and will enable access to treatment for hundreds of millions of sufferers. The Senseye platform has the potential to be the technology that drives this change. As such, we are looking for a CTO with a strong track record of technical leadership in Medical Technology to join our team and lead us as we scale. Duties and Responsibilities- A Summary

We are seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) that will be a catalyst to our current team as we continue our growth trajectory and serve more patients, partners, and customers. Reporting to the CEO, this position is an integral part of the leadership team. You will be responsible for leading the Company’s technological strategy and operations. The CTO will be responsible for all product development and innovation activities within the company. This will include defining and executing the technology strategy, developing product and technology roadmaps, leading the innovation process, and collaborating with the Senseye leadership team on defining and executing the company growth strategy.

The CTO leader must have the demonstrated ability to build, lead, mentor, and motivate a successful high performing team of interdisciplinary engineers in a fast-paced production environment. Deep understanding of developing and leading an agile optimized R&D team and scaling resources, processes and governance for high quality product outcomes. Deep knowledge and capability of partnering, acquiring and integrating emerging research & technologies and engineering, development and talent in relevant spaces. Candidate should possess presence, expertise, coach-player and collaborator qualities. The right candidate will need to have the capability to define strategy as well as be engaged in execution.

Duties and Responsibilities- Detailed

  • Build, lead, grow and mentor team of top-of-the-field developers, data scientists and machine learning engineers
  • Develop our technology strategy to build a medical digital app at scale that will be clinically validated and comply with medical device regulations
  • Define and implement the hardware, software, and systems architecture necessary to execute on Senseye product goals
  • Oversee the development of our application: Prototypes for different stages of experiments, and the final product
  • Work closely with marketing and sales functions to define, scope, and implement the technology capabilities needed for cutting edge competitiveness.
  • Take a “metric oriented” approach to understanding the performance of Senseye product deployments, and implement the systems, communication, and strategy necessary to realize these insights as improvements
  • Implement necessary processes for a digital medical device development setup: ISO certification for quality management, technical documentation, and data protection
  • Work closely with our regulatory and clinical investigations team to successfully conduct clinical investigations, and apply for regulatory approval, risk management evaluations etc.
  • Oversee and manage the whole technology budget
  • Communicate the technology strategy to partners and investors
  • Lead, manage and participate (where necessary) in the day to day operations of the technical teams.
  • Develop technical architecture plans and strategies to support the company’s expected rapid growth over the coming years.
  • Develop strategies for advancing partnerships, technology platforms, and external relationships.
  • Conduct technical reviews of products and solutions to evaluate their applicability.
  • Manage and optimize infrastructure assets to meet the internal financial targets.

In addition to being versed with the latest technological skills and business concepts, you must have:

· Ability to conduct in-depth technical analysis and research.

· Strong leadership skills to manage multiple departments and teams.

· Effective communication skills to translate complex documents and technical matters to stakeholders and non-technical staff.

· Ability to build appropriate environments to foster talents, innovation and delivery of effective development strategies.

· Ability to anticipate and develop plans to address technological challenges.

· Capacity to liaise between the customer and business by gathering information on the target market.

· In-depth understanding of budget preparation and business planning

  • Proven experience as a CTO or similar leadership role in digital technology companies, start ups or similar
  • Considerable years of experience in developing technology, ideally in a medically regulated context, in a pharmaceutical, medical device or neuroscience/psychology-based company but not required
  • Knowledge in the latest trends in AI (i.e. classifications, recommender systems, computer vision, GANs, deep learning) and ability to discriminate the valuable advancements from the hype
  • Extensive experience building, deploying, and monitoring machine learning applications for production environments
  • Candidates with experience of startup and rapid scaling to large scale operations are preferred.

Industry and technology stack requirements

  • Expertise in Python
  • Experience in three or more of the following: OpenCV, gRPC, NumPy, FFmpeg, Flask, Swift, Kotlin, CI/CD, SQL, AWS, Docker, K8s
  • Extensive experience building software in a collaborative team environment using version control and agile development
