We are looking for a Senior Design Program Manager with a strong systems-thinking mindset to help strategize, define, track and deliver work for the design systems team. You will work closely with design and engineering partners to deliver high-quality design at scale, while facilitating design processes and frameworks along the product lifecycle.
This is an opportunity to work with a young design system as it matures and evolves to cover multiple platforms. We’re looking for a DPM who can streamline our processes, orchestrate communication and ceremonies, develop our practices, drive professional development, and serve as a catalyst for how we achieve our vision of a design-led culture across the entire organization.
Design program managers (DPMs) are essential in helping our teams strategize, define, track and deliver work. DPMs excel at being collaborators, problem solvers, and dot connectors while having a direct impact on the user experience by establishing and facilitating design processes and frameworks along the product life cycle.
This role reports to the Head of Design Operations.
What you’ll do:
This position will be successful by taking ownership and initiative to create a vision state for the design systems program. Responsibilities include:
- Influence strategy for a program or product area by articulating a coherent experience vision based on clear, meaningful problem/opportunity statements
- Apply frameworks and engagement models that enable teams to deliver outstanding customer experiences, at scale
- Partner with design, product, TPMs and engineering leads to drive product initiatives forward
- Work with the Design Director to define success metrics for a program or product area.
- Develop project schedules, define timeframes, and prioritize tasks to achieve project goals and deliver intended objectives
- Track capacity and demand across portfolios to better communicate resource and project needs
- Manage design reviews and communications to product teams and executive leadership
- Lead increasingly sophisticated projects with some supervised work on ambiguous adaptive programs
- Support design leadership through effective team communication, proactive problem solving, and information distribution
- Help nurture the efficient use of software tools and user-centric design thinking methodologies
- Contribute to an inclusive culture of design which invites all to contribute
- Work with the Director of Design and other design leaders to establish standard design and UX methodologies, and ensure consistent adoption and understanding of such across the team
What you’ll bring:
- 3-5+ years experience in Program Management or a related field
- 8+ years of working in a product-led organization
- Passion for user experience and design with an understanding of the creative/design workflow
- Demonstrated delivery of large-scale programs and projects that drove meaningful impact to the business
- Experience delivering iteratively with cross-disciplined teams
- Experience building clear, concise and well-structured functional material (e.g., policies & procedures, guidelines, presentations, messages) and recommend improvements to existing material
- Comfortable in an agile environment, experience using JIRA preferred
- Continuous iteration and experimentation mindset
- Informed and strong opinions, loosely held
