Director of Purchasing

 

Hyliion is seeking an experienced Director of Purchasing. Primary responsibilities include establishing purchasing strategies, developing supplier relationships, and driving the overall cost of our products.  There is a sharp focus on implementation and evaluation of all material procurement, outsourcing, vendor selection, and indirect category purchasing. The Director of Purchasing evaluates the organization's supply chain performance against projected costs and timelines. Responsible for coordinating supply chain activities across all units of the organization. Reports to the SVP of Sales and Supply Chain.

  • Lead the identification of key commodity vendors
  • Develop strong relationships throughout the supply chain to ensure Hyliion is viewed as a customer of choice
  • Create, negotiate and implement supply agreements
  • Establish cross-functional global commodity strategies and execution plans to establish a total cost of ownership model that is advantageous to the company
  • Strong qualitative, quantitative, cost modeling and data analysis skills (Excel and) with the ability to tell the story in a spreadsheet.
  • Experience with complex contract negotiations, change order negotiations, and subcontracting of labor work
  • Works effectively across the organization to ensure successful execution of supply chain support on many integrated efforts
  • Establish key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to supply supplier performance
  • Performs life cycle cost studies
  • Responsible for all indirect product category purchases

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, facilitation, and presentation skills

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related field of study
  • 7+ Years of related experience leading purchasing and/or supply chain teams
  • Proven track record of developing leverageable supplier relationships

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related field of study
  • Purchasing or Supply Chain Management Professional Certification preferred

 

Physical Demands:   

  • Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds 
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. 
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. 
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time. 
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. 
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. 
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound. 
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. 
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. 

 

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional equipment as found in a typical office
