About the role:

Blackbaud is looking for a talented Manager of Database Administration to join our team! This position requires expertise with Microsoft SQL Server services, tools, and databases running on Windows Server operating systems.  If you have solid experience in scripting, recovery, and troubleshooting of issues keep reading. You will manage a high-performing mixed team including local and remote resources.  Experience working with cloud database services from Azure or AWS as well as BI technologies and SSIS packages would be a plus

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage the planning, implementation and support of an adaptive, secure, and robust enterprise infrastructure.
  • Provide supervision to a staff including project task delegation, tracking and follow-through on quarterly and annual goals, annual performance reviews, coordination of technical training.
  • Ensure industry standard security practices are implemented and kept up to date.
  • Provide database backup and recovery solutions in line with corporate backup and retention, and disaster recovery policies, as well as relate and maintain documentation covering all aspects of the database environment, including physical layout, inventory of hosted database infrastructure assets, processes and procedures, operational policies, etc.
  • Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring all DBAs conform to best practices in performance tuning and troubleshooting, backups and recovery, system monitoring, and capacity planning using a variety of vendor supplied and third party tools, as well as internally written utilities for highly available enterprise class database systems.
  • Supervise the individual and team workload to deliver agreed upon project milestones.
  • Provide feedback and coaching of individual performance as well as promote teamwork and resolve interpersonal issues.

What we’ll want you to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline, or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years Database Administrator experience and 3+ years in a Management role
  • Proven extensive experience with MS SQL Server and a passion to learn required.
  • Strong decision-making skills, take charge personality, and the ability to drive a plan to completion.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required by business priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and customer service.
  • Advanced analytical and creative skills and demonstrate resourcefulness in problem solving and optimization of design.
  • Ability to communicate information and issues clearly and succinctly with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Self-manage work and complete systems and database related projects independently, on a team, and while leading a team.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, and customer service skills as well as the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
