Senior Materials Manager

The Senior Materials Manager is responsible for achieving optimal levels of inventory and is responsible for inventory turns, total inventory value, material availability to production lines, and for driving service improvements and implementing best practices. Reports to VP of Supply Chain

•    Translate production targets into a materials plan

•    Responsible for product availability, inventory turns, supply chain lead-time and total inventory value for the assortment in all nodes in the supply chain

•    Work with the Sourcing team to address supplier issues and manage supplier performance

•    Manage new and existing VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) with high standard

•    Manage inventory planning master data settings to meet service requirements at optimal production and distribution cost

•    Run and maintain local warehouse and supplier review meetings to provide accurate information concerning the Supply Chain performance Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

•    Interacts with several functions of the business at management level which include Operations, Sales, Product Marketing, Service, IT, Finance, Business Unit leads, etc.

•    Bring industry best practices and training to the team

•    Manage NPI process for materials, manage phasing out old parts and phasing in new parts

•    Manage engineering change process for materials, tracking changes and updating materials plan as needed

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Management experience in the durable goods manufacturing industry preferable 
  • Strong organizational and project management experience desired with the ability to solve problems and provide solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with other languages are an asset
  • At least 2 or more years’ experience leading a materials team of 3 or more

 

Required Qualifications:

•    Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in the area of Supply Chain, Logistics or Finance

•    Experience working with organizations and suppliers across multiple geographies

•    Expertise with Oracle systems

•    5 or more years’ experience with Inventory Management, Production, Procurement, Launch   processes and Master Data processes and systems

•    New Product Development Experience

  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

 

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional equipment as found in a typical office
