Whole Foods Market is excited to be hiring for a Senior Principal responsible for strategizing, developing, implementing and managing site merchandising planning and programs across our full suite of e-commerce experiences. You’ll ensure coherence and cohesion in the representation of WFM’s products online and create customer-centric digital merchandising plans. You’ll also analyze customer behavior, business performance, and digital metrics to make recommendations for site merchandising and e-commerce channel strategy. You will report to the Executive Leader of E-Commerce Business and will lead a team of five site merchandisers.

Responsibilities 

  • Partner with Merchandising and Retail Marketing leadership to define holistic Site Merchandising strategy for Whole Foods Market 

  • Act as strategic owner for complex site merchandising initiatives

  • Provide site merchandising program advice, consultation and leadership company-wide 

  • Maintain full awareness of evolving trends and capabilities across the industry and the competition 

  • Advise marketing, operations, merchandising and other stakeholders on e-commerce trends, strategy, technology, methods and techniques 

  • Lead and facilitate complex discussions, debates and decision-making with executive leadership 

Skills 

  • Detailed understanding of the underlying technology used to deliver e-commerce experiences 

  • Detailed understanding of product data, data structures, and data management 

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and levels of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality 

  • Strong understanding of retail merchandising strategies and processes 

  • Demonstrate resourcefulness, ceaseless energy, persistence, and ownership mindset to achieve goals despite obstacles and difficulties 

  • Provide function-wide process advice and insight 

  • Consult with and advise senior-level stakeholder and leaders 

  • Expert understanding of standard project management methodologies and requirements 

  • Expert ability to plan, estimate, organize, and monitor projects

  • Advanced ability to oversee and advise on project management issues and assist with overcoming barriers 

  • Expert ability to keep multiple projects on track financially, creatively, and in accordance with stakeholder objectives and deadlines 

  • Leverage customer, market, and industry understanding to drive Site Merchandising decisions and recommendations 

  • Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the WFM product mix, supply base, and retail operations 

Education 

  • BA/BS Degree and 8-10 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience 

  • Graduate degree preferred
