Team/Department Description:

The Information Technology (IT) Services group is responsible for the overall strategy and management of the ShipX family of company’s Information Technology systems, policies and operational oversight for the Stamps.com SaaS Platform. 

 

Strategic Imperative:

The Senior Director, Information Technology (IT) role is critical to the ShipX family of companies as it is responsible for providing a secure, robust, high-performing, and highly available infrastructure. Our infrastructure includes on-premise to support the business operations and digital services. It is equally critical to defend our company's trust by providing data and information security through best in class practices and governance structure.

 

Primary Objectives:

1. Strategic direction for Information Technology systems.

2. Manage systems support, maintenance, implementations and upgrades.

3. Compliance, Risk and Audit Management.

4. Vendor management and contract negotiations

5. Staff Management and development.

Essential Position Duties (typical monthly, weekly, daily tasks):

1. Strategic direction for Information Technology systems.

· Develop, implement and communicate company IT strategy.

· Establish strategic direction for critical Information System platforms, influencing and setting strategic direction for operational improvement initiatives.

· Work with business partners and the development organization to help define, document, and implement processes as well as recommend process improvements.

 

2. Manage systems support, maintenance, implementations and upgrades.

· Lead the functional areas of infrastructure engineering, IT operations, end users support services, and enterprise collaboration applications.

· Participate in M&A activities by defining synergies and carrying through on service optimizations critical to the ongoing support of the organization.

· Deliver secure, reliable IT infrastructure and services for data center, network, servers and endpoints.

 

3. Compliance, Risk and Audit Management.

· Define/maintain security policy and best practices for both data center and cloud infrastructure.

· Perform internal security audits and reports.

 

4. Vendor management and contract negotiations.

· Manage vendors and service contracts related to IT functions before release.

· Manage operating and capital budgets.

 

5. Staff Management and development.

· Lead staff responsible for the day to day operations and administration of the strategic and tactical projects within their functional prevue (infrastructure, operations, end user support and collaboration applications). 

 

Education and/or Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science or related field.

· Minimum of Four (4) years of experience as a Senior leader supporting at least 400 corporate users.

· Minimum of Seven (7) years of leading technology teams including internal Help Desk and NOC team to high performance standards.

· Strong background with Microsoft foundational and desktop technologies and managing an enterprise with hundreds of physical and virtual servers, desktops systems and databases.

 

Skills and Knowledge:

· Proven skills and competency in operating a 24x7 online platform.

· Network and Security Designs with an emphasis on PCI, GDPR, SOC1/2 requirements and controls.

· Practical understanding and implementation of MS SQL architectures that leverage both an OLTP and OLAP environment.

· Highly analytical with the ability to perform statistical analysis and leverage data to drive decisions.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholders across all lines of business

· Ability to work within a frequently changing environment.

 

Computer/Software/Application Proficiency:

· AWS

o Terraform/Cloud Formation

o AMI, Auto- scaling, and Octopus Deployments

o Direct Connect, Route53 etc.

· Office365, G Suite, OKTA

· Network technologies (VPCs/BGP/ACLs/ELB/ELB etc)

· SQL Replication (Always On, Mirroring, Transactional and P2P)

· Splunk, Slack, Jira

 

Travel Requirements:

· Occasional, less than 10%.
