Software Technician

You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.
We are seeking a skilled Software Technician to join us in our mission to develop next-generation robotic solutions. As a Software Technician at Apptronik, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of software systems for our humanoid robots. You will collaborate closely with our software engineers and robotics experts to ensure the seamless integration of software components into our robotic platforms. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of robotics technology and contribute to groundbreaking advancements in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, implementation, and testing of software modules for humanoid robots.
- Troubleshoot and debug software issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware components.
- Perform system integration testing and assist in the deployment of robotic systems.
- Document software designs, processes, and procedures for reference and training purposes.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to contribute innovative ideas and solutions.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience, preferred
- 0-2 years of software engineering experience (excluding academic training)
- 0-2 years of testing experience - including unit, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Bash / python scripting skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and adapt to evolving requirements.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ROS, including actionlib- / pluginlib-based architectures
- Experience designing and developing software for embedded devices, edge applications, or robotics with critical, real-time performance requirements
- Strong understanding of distributed computing / multi-threaded / multi-process design and debugging concepts
- Knowledge of real time operating system concepts and prior experience with an RTOS or real-time kernel
- Experience using code profiling / optimization tools
